I really just like adapting lyrics to different situations.

Guess this musical:

"Oh, there's nothing halfway
about the Board77 way to treat you,
when we treat you
which we may not do at all.
there's an Board77 kind of special
chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
we've never been without.
that we recall.
We can be cold
as our falling thermometers in December
if you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
we could post furiously
for a week at a time
and never see eye-to-eye.
but what the heck, you're welcome,
Join us at the m77t.
You can eat your fill
of all the food you bring yourself.
You really ought to give Board77 a try."

This was Rebecca's favorite musical when she was a child. At 3 or 4 years of age, she would sit motionless for hours watching this movie.

Well, should I just say it, or give a hint? Oooh! Here's a hint: the title of the movie is very much like the name of a poster here on board77.
And here's the real lyrics:

"Oh, there's nothing halfway
About the Iowa way to treat you,
When we treat you
Which we may not do at all.
There's an Iowa kind of special
Chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
We've never been without.
That we recall.
We can be cold
As our falling thermometers in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We could stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But what the heck, you're welcome,
Join us at the picnic.
You can eat your fill
Of all the food you bring yourself.
You really ought to give Iowa a try."

Has Wicked ever been broadcast? I think it must have been filmed, since there are excerpts in the trailer on the website.

I suppose it's inevitable that a movie will be made some day. But I would much rather have a DVD of a live performance.

Becca, you *like* the movie Music Man????!!!

*shudder*

The musical is much better performed live. :P

You & Duffy are just too cute! :D

Jude, what songs are the live clips of? I saw Defying Gravity performed live at the Tonys, via tv. Was actually the first time I had ever heard of Wicked.

*smacks cem as per her instructions because it's not 6:00 yet*

When you've recovered, find a computer with a fast internet connection and download this trailer:

Wicked trailer

You'll need QuickTime to watch it.

Jude, parts of it have been broadcast or performed on TV, but the show itself has never been. I agree about the live performance though. I don't know that Defying Gravity would be half so moving on film as it is on stage.

On broadwayworld.com they have "trailers" for most, if not all, of the current broadway shows. (If you're bored and looking through, I highly reccomend Spelling Bee. Although really, they're all fun. I love watching previews.)

*ooooooowwwwwww*

:P

Trailer hasn't loaded yet, but it has the word "generic" in the title. That concerns me. ;)

So I come on Maiden's bidding to announce my undying love for the JCS wonder :D

I have never had the pleasure of seeing it on stage yet :( Its one of my top-most dreams...

I adore the movie and know the songs off by heart... I have the dvd and the soundtrack...

Gimli shares my fascination and many-a-chat we've had included "singing" and typing out crazy long lyrics to some of the many wonderful JCS songs.

The music is brilliant, the story and concept are great (I think its one of the best "jesus movies" out there)... Norman Jewison is a great director... Ted Neely  Carl Anderson  ... I simply love it!

If anyone ever hears of a JCS stage production coming to Toronto, please PM me :)

Enchie, try and get a copy of the recent DVD with Glenn Carter. It's awesome:

It's basically the stage production filmed, as opposed to a motion picture version.

I've seen that version, Alatar! :D I've never actually seen any other version of JCS, but I enjoyed the one I saw very much. My younger sisters used to watch it over and over again and sing the songs all the time.

We watched it in Sunday school once, and I still remember the shock on one girl's face during the "What's the buzz?" song. She misheard it and thought they were saying "What the fuck?" :P
