Ditto.

So, here's a doodle from Gary Larson, to counteract the saccharine sweetness of the T**********.

It seems I vaguely, vaguely recall that comic strip. I must admit it doesn't really tickle my funny bone.

Jude, if I knew that phrase, I would certainly tell you. I'm sure if I did a search for it online I could find it. I'll add it to my list of things to do. ;)

sh_wulff, that avatar--:Q! You know I love DW. <whimper>

Mossy, Larson is totally awesome!!!!

:damnfunny: I wish I had been alive during the 1950's - then I might have gotten to see Maria Callas in performance!

I'm sorry for those of you who aren't getting the Pogo strips - maybe you have to know the characters to "get" it.

Fortunately my dad collected Pogo books, so I was exposed to it when I was growing up. All the rest of you have incomplete lives!

Okay, this is an in-joke, guys and gals.

At the moot, I kept calling Sam "Jude" for some reason.

At least it wasn't as embarrassing as the time Roger said that one of his sons had bitten the postman! :LMAO: :LMAO:

His son's immediate response was, "I DID??" Roger just kept right on talking, until he started to wonder why we were rolling around the back seat of the car in hysterics! :damnfunny:

Meanwhile, the actual guilty party, which was, of course, Tasha, just sat there, calmly looking out the window at the passing scenery.... :D

The first Pogo strip ever, from 1948:

Maybe you have to get used to the dialect before you can appreciate it.

Jude, please do. :) They were discussing Pogo over on HoF and my curiosity has definitely been piqued.

Lali, I completely agree about Larson. :D He and Bill Watterson are easily my favourite cartoonists. I love Larson's bizarre sense of humour.

I wish that were better quality, but my scanner is five hours and a few states away.

TheMary: Larson definitley rules! My favorites are the ones involving the aliens and outer space. There is one (I don't have a scan of it) where the human space ship is like a tiny bug on the window of the giant alien space ship and the aliens are squealing "Ewwwwww". Good stuff.

I liked it. :) Reminds me a bit of Scary-go-Round, or The Perishers.
SGR: "Did you strike him squarely between the four humours of his body, or his cheek?"
"No. But I thought about it. It turned out that just his hypothetical whinin' cryin' and pleadin' was enough!"

:D

:poke: Are you getting TM and Mossy mixed up because they both have Elphaba in their avatar? :D

Here's the second Pogo comic ever:

Now, I need to go visit my dad to raid his Pogo collection. :Wooper:

Jude, my mum was sitting next to me as I read, and a) was suprised to see Pogo and b) thought Sam and Anna were both quite swoonable (my wording). As do I. :D

I ordered a Pogo retrospective from the library, too, because the only other one I saw to take out was in French.

For mrs_whatsit: I couldn't find the one you were talking about, so I hope this will do.

Tell your mother she has immaculate taste!

Here are the Pogo strips where we first get introduced to Snavely the Snake:

Everything Gary Larson ever drew is brilliant. Particularly his cows.

I loved the one where there was a daycare centre opening right next to a dingo farm? The caption was "trouble brewing".

Man, I wish my mind worked like that........... :D

Mossy, I thought you might like to know that my 4-year-old niece loved Mahna-mahna and has been singing it constantly. In fact, when day care reopened this year, that was the first thing she told all her friends about!

This is her
