We had a week of high 70s, so now the normal weather of low 60s and overcast except midday feels like a let down. But the heat was not a good thing. Everything is dry already. It bodes ill.

We had snow yesterday and it's been as cold as January again after the warmest March day since 1968 only a week ago!

Are such big swings normal, or is it another symptom of crazy climate?

I think it's somewhat normal, at least for Ohio, but it does seem more extreme. We've had the same ups and downs over the past month. We're just in a warm spell right now.

Snow in April is not unheard of over here - last time I remember was 2009 but such a difference in just a week is pretty bizarre! however, it's why the weather is such a big talking point for us...where our island is situated means we're at the mercy of weather fronts that can knock away the warming effects of the Gulf Stream at a whim!

After all the warm weather, we woke up today to a light dusting of snow. Today's high will be zero.

I sat outside yesterday in the sun without a jacket. I woke up to 3 inches of snow. I walked out of work to full sun, 47F, and zero snow.

Well, after I wrote that we got more snow. Then the sun came out while it was snow squalling, and then it melted. Then we got more snow after dark. Now it is sunny again, and the snow is melting.

We got more snow overnight. It's actually quite attractive, not like that gross slushy stuff we often get this time of year.

Tomorrow it shoots up to 15, so the snow will be gone.

I always have a moment of shock before I realize that Jude means 15C, which is quite pleasant, and not 15F, which is almost 20 below freezing.

Our cooling trend is only 50s, which used to be our normal weather literally every month of the year.

We're having a few days with a high of 30. That's too high for May! Now I have to be careful to only take the dogs out either early in the morning or late at night!

I hope this isn't going to be a trend for this spring and summer :uhoh:

It's been hot here too. I was going to hike, but I took too long to get moving this morning. Now I'll have to wait till tonight.

Our temperatures have gone up a little this week, but the humidity has gone up a *lot*. Also, the pollening has begun in earnest.

If only....it's been consistently in the low teens here, with intermittent showers most days. Compared last year's early warm Spring during the first Lockdown, I reckon the garden's nearly a month behind!

You're welcome to it!

Last night and today we've had 50-60 mph winds as well...I've lost multiple stems/flower heads off of my Bearded Irises which I'm very upset about. (two or three were due to the cat as they are where he makes his ascent of the fence, but two more went today in the wind.) And on top of that, our tv aerial came off the pole yesterday evening and is hanging by the cable, which is causing it to intermittently but relentlessly knock against the chimney. Earliest we can get someone to come out is Monday, of course...

This year I'm lucky that my basement got finished last year and that I have a new sofa-bed in it. Because now I have the option of moving down here for the summer. W00t!

I wonder if I can avoid turning the air conditioner on all summer. Wanna take bets on how long I last?

Those of you that live in the hotter climates, you know what it's like on a hot day and you're in an air-conditioned office and then step outside and the heat hits you all at once? That's what it's like when I go upstairs. I just take that very last step and it hits me - bam!

Yes, it got very hot here all of the sudden. I hiked today but wanted to die. I came home and had to get a shower as I was drenched. It was nearly 90F today with high humidity.
