Wow, you're even two degrees hotter than us!

It's supposed to drop about 10 degrees on Sunday. Same with you?

No, we're hot and getting hotter until next week.

Lali, are you often hotter than Chicago?

I'd say we're comparable. Chicago might tend to be a bit cooler (like Cleveland is) because of the lake but probably not by much. At most, it's only about 10 degrees of difference.

Lali, 10 degree difference between 80 and 90 is a BIG difference,

The title of your previous post is "Re: Gardening" rather than "Re: How's the weather?"

I think he means that the subject of the post where you (somewhat inappropriately) ask Lali if she's hotter than Chicago is "Re: Gardening" for some reason, instead of the default "Re: How's the weather?"

Not really when humidity is involved, imo. I looked it up for today, just to see. It's 75 here and 77 in Chicago. It probably depends on whether you're in the city (likely to be hotter, I think) vs. in a suburb or rural area. Maybe 10 degrees difference is too generous?

You know, "Hotter than Chicago" would make a great title for an autobiography...

Well, I was planning to make sourdough bread today, but sanity prevailed. It's just too hot to bake.

She felt the same way.

So I turned on the air conditioner.

... and now it's cooled down to what I would call perfect weather. Hope it lasts!

A tornado ripped through Barrie, Ontario, a city north of Toronto.

Houses were demolished but luckily nobody seems to have been killed.

I had to cut the morning walk short today, since it was just too hot. I'm not sure if the dogs were relieved or disappointed.

My ideal place to live would be always between 18 and 22 all year round, apart from a month or so of below 0 weather with a decent amount of snow. I suppose I could put up with 25 for the really hot days.

Anyone know a place like that?

Translating to archaic.... give me a moment.... 64*F to 74*F year round, with a month below freezing, ample snow, and 25 really hot days. You didn't mention cloud cover, rain, humidity, smoke, or deadly weather, all of which could be a concern.

I recommend where I live, on the California coast, with an occasional trip to the mountains in the winter, where I remind myself why I don't live there. :D There's a reason why housing is so high here - so many people want to stay here.:flowerthrow: :

I second laureanna. Although you'd have to throw in about six weeks of wildfire smoke.

It's manageable so far this year, about four days past the point where we got orange sky last year. Fires are east of us for now, so most days the smoke stays behind the hills. When the north was burning, the smoke blew out over the ocean and then backed into us.

Although where I am, I only need to worry about smoke. It's highly unlikely that the fire will get anywhere near us.

Maybe Chile? Similar climate and geography as CA for the same reasons, but not on fire (yet, that I know of ETA never mind, though perhaps the situation is stable?)

ETA go a bit farther north and Quito, Ecuador looks like it checks all the boxes, as long as you're willing to go into the mountains to find the snow (and don't mind that those mountains are in fact active volcanoes)

I think Quito holds the record as the highest capital in the world. If you're prone to altitude sickness, you can't live there.

I don't think I'm prone to it - I've happily hiked in the Canadian Rockies. Is that comparable?

Hm; that's true--9000 feet and change (2850 meters), twice as high as Denver (though not as high as La Paz, Bolivia). I guess it depends where in the Rockies?
