There was. 4.0, I think. We've had a few up there over the years, and one here. I have felt none of them. :nono:

Oh, I think our final tornado count was 14 or something insane, like that. One was an F4, a couple were F3s.

Ohio can stop with the weirdness now. :suspicious:

The summer has barely begun, and we've already had so many violent thunderstorms, I've lost count. Is this the new normal?

:( I hope not, but I'm afraid it might be.

I think we've had fewer storms and a more normal summer so far (at least, compared to the last couple of years, which were miserable). We'll see if that lasts. I think the hurricane season is also predicted to be "average" this year.

Parts of western Europe are getting some nasty heat waves, though. I'd hate to be some of the places without air conditioning. But I was amused that the excessive heat was being used as an excuse for topless sunbathing in Germany. (it seems to me that you'd be heading for the shade, not the sun, but whatever... :) )

When we lived in Germany, topless or totally nude sunbathing seemed to be the norm- no excuse needed.

That was in the 80's though.

We're having a warmish sunny day today, but in Manitoba (just one province west of us) has declared a state of emergency because of a snowstorm :Q

Check out the pictures in this article

That's appalling this early in the season! Well, I guess it's better for it to happen early while it's not so bitterly cold as later in the year, but still! :(

It's snowing here too. The big stuff that looks like falling snow in children's books. The first few snows always seem magical. Reality hits later in the season, in terms of snow shovels, muddy shoes, etc. :)

Oh! Thanks Al - you're right, I had no idea. I'll fix it when I'm on a 'puter tomorrow morning. Thanks.

(ETA I can see my tiny dancing Snoopy profile, though, and it makes me happy.)

We had a big ice storm overnight and all day. The police were imploring people to stay home if they possibly could.

So I worked from home today. But the ice keeps coming, and I'm not sure about tomorrow...

Did you survive the ice storm?

I'm flying to Omaha tomorrow and coming home on Monday, with layovers in Minnesota. I'm hoping the weather cooperates for all of this.

I will drive in snow over ice any day, so it was smart to stay home. :)

I'm hanging out with Jenn as she visits her family. Her birthday is Saturday, so we're just doing a combined birthday/holiday visit.

There's a huge snowstorm in the Maritimes. Our Halifax store had to close early.

Here in Ottawa, it dipped to minus 29 overnight.

And this is the day that the dog-walker takes Willow Matilde out for her jaunt with her buddies. I hope they all enjoy it...

I was going to ask if it was - 29 Celsius or Fahrenheit, then realized that it doesn't matter. :Q

This is simultaneously one of the coldest times of the year here, and the greenest. We used to get at least a week or two when temperatures dipped into the 30sF and I had to scrape frost from my car in the morning. But that hasn't happened in a few years.

Check out the pictures in this article about this week's blizzard in St. John's, Newfoundland. I'll never complain about Ottawa weather again.

Actually, that's not true. I probably will

As you knw, it's mid-summer in Oz and we've been wxperencing the hottest, driest summer on record, with bushfires ravishing the country.

So yesterday, this happened:

Those are not ice cubes. They're hailstones.
