Australia has no chill. Even when it throws chunks of ice at you.

Those are huge hailstones!

Did they help at all with the bushfires?

A little, but there has been some rain as well...which, of course, caused flooding across denuded ground, which is so dry and hard that its hydrophobic.

Also, so much has already burned.

We (in Melbourne) haven't had that acrid hazy smog in the last week.

I tried to hold off turning the heat on until October, but I caved this morning.

Happy Autumn, everyone!

The entire Northern hemisphere: Ah, crispy fall weather!

California: it's 98F in a neighborhood where you normally can just write 65F on the window and use that as a thermometer year round.

Well, it's 90F here in Orlando right now so definitely not the entire northern hemisphere, but that's not weird for us. Y'all however - WTF???

32.2??? Is that normal?

Will that last all winter?

It's been a bit warmer than usual but only a bit, really. Summer is clinging on hard here this year. It should start cooling off for real soon though. During the actual winter months, it does get cold by Floridian standards, which means highs in the 50s or 60s are common. We'll get a few days here and there colder than that, and a few (awful) days near freezing are normal (though I've felt like those are increasingly rare).

The entire Northern hemisphere north of the tropics and not Florida.

This is emphatically not normal for us. Normal is MAYBE one day around 90, and a few around 80.

Jude, Dave, and I basically get the same weather, and Maria gets my weather (more or less) a day or two before me. So I'm kind of boring in the weather discussions. We've gotten close to frost here. The sun did end up looking weird this evening, though. Maybe we're getting smoke from a fire somewhere?

I remember someone in the olden days of b77 posted about how the entire continent East of the Rockies gets basically the same weather because it's so flat.

In local news, today is the first day ever that I used the sentence starting with "cool down" and ending in "to 73F" (23C). Usually we heat up to 70, rarely.

It's been raining and grey for 3 days now. If I can't hole up with a book and hot tea, the rain just gets depressing after awhile.

The sun has finally come out now, just in time for it *not* to hit the garden. Hopefully tomorrow.

It's a nice spring day, pleasantly warm, sunny, gently breezy, honey smell of pollen, and lots of fresh green.
I've been under the gun so indoors all day seeing it through the windows.
