I bought several kilts for my husband the year he got bitten on the butt by a brown recluse spider. I thought he'd wear them to work but he never worked up to that. He wears them all the time around the farm in the summer time, though. Damn Near Kilt 'em is the brand name. Very utilitarian. :)

Skirts are nice in the heat.

It's sweet summertime here at last. Overcast, highs in the 60s, just how I like it.

Those who like it hot can drive half an hour inland where it's 10-20 degrees warmer.

And three hours away in the Sierra, skiing is still open.

That's one of the nice things about northern Calif - pick your own weather, within a few hours.

We have a little of that here in the spring. The coastline is almost always at least 10 degrees colder than inland. But it can make for some chilly evenings when you think it would be a nice night for a picnic, leave the house in short sleeves, but then find yourself wishing for a wool sweater and eating fast.

We're back in the 70s/ low 80s for highs. It's nice.

We had a front come through yesterday which dropped the afternoon temp down to 54F. :Q That's really weird for Missouri this time of year. Hot and humid is the general rule. I've already acclimated to working in the garden at 85F to 95F ... I had to put a jacket on for 54F!

Now we have overcast skies, chill wind, and temperature in the low sixties. It's August, for Pete's sake. With weather like this, it feels almost like July.

The weather here is unseasonably cool and wet, too. I hope it isn't cloudy or rainy on Eclipse Day. :help:

I sure hope not! :(

It's been typical August weather here this past week—very hot and humid.

It suddenly turned cold yesterday. Time to go back to wearing long-sleeved shirts.

While here we are in a heat wave. It's supposed to be over 100F where am, which is almost unprecedented. Out typical heat wave is about 85F.

In what was possibly my most selfless act as a parent, I let my son take my car, as his doesn't have a working air conditioning and he has to drive in the middle of the day. Our parking at work is covered by solar panels so cars are in the shade.

Awww, good mom!

It is cold here. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I assume yov means the heat wave. I spent about 15 seconds at 113F yesterday, between the car and my parents' house, and came inside with a distinct sense of do not want.

My parent live inland, where 100F is not unusual in the summer, so they do have AC. We don't, but here the temperatures get back to the 70s at night. I ended up sleeping on the couch half the night, because upstairs was too hot, but new windows and insulated attic made things bearable. Today we should be back in the 70s.

Karl the Fog's Twitter was hilarious this weekend.
