It's now been confirmed that we had two tornadoes. There was also a third one a hundred miles west of Ottawa, in Calabogie.*
My work is pretty close to the centre of the tornado activity, so I heard a lot of "close shave" anecdotes today. One woman's two barns were destroyed. Fortunately her horse escaped unharmed and is doing well.

* For Frelga: "Kala" is the Greek word for "fine", or "beautiful", and "Bogie" is British slang for a booger. So Calabogie literally means "beautiful booger". This is of course irrelevant because the word actually comes from the Gaelic calladh bogaidh, meaning "Marshy Shore".
