You know, when you post "Hmmmmm....." with a picture of some blueberries, one would almost think you're trying to throw a wrench into an old m00bies debate :P

I am with Lali. The purple blueberries in that picture are not ripe, that is how you know. The bluer they are, the riper they are.

I will grant that they turn purple when baked in muffins.

Silly. The darker they get the more ripe they are. Indigoberries are green when unripe.

:P

I remember a summer vacation on a farm when I was ten. Oh jumping down from a 10-pile-high stack of hay to a single stack, milking the cows...it was great.

On the Sunday though the rest of the family went off to the beach but I preferred to stay on the farm. Sunday dinner arrived with one of the best pies I had ever tasted. When I asked what it was, with 'rabbit' being the reply, I started to cry. Tasted da bomb though.

No problem now. Love rabbit meat.

Much has changed since being a veggie for four years in the 90s. Every time I pass a field of sheep I wind the window down in the car and say, "Hmm...mint sauce."

I am a bastard.

And if buffalos can have wings, I see no problem with a balrog having them.

I was in Oklahoma (shush I'm taking a break from lugging things up and downstairs) in basic training. You were always hungry in basic training. The amount of physical exertion and the amount of times you ate did not equate.

Didn't matter what they served, you were hungry enough to eat it.

Anyway I stumbled into the mess one afternoon, as hungry as all hell and started eating what they told me was chicken.
After devouring half of what I had, I realized the bone formation was really weird. Really weird! for a chicken.

Turned out to be rabbit.

It did taste like chicken and seeing how ravenous I was, it was delicious.
Can't say I am a fair judge or anything seeing how hungry I was, but if I didn't have chicken to munch on, I wouldn't hate rabbit in a pinch.

No idea why they tried to disguise it as chicken, but they did.
And really the meat is little different.

Blue cheese? Well, the bacteria bit - but it's still food.

Apparently, by people with stronger stomachs than mine.

Blue cheese is actually a shade of green.
George Carlin said there was no blue food.
In George I trust.

Food and the Colour Blue

There is something of an aversion among human beings to food of a blue tinge: this is most likely due to the rarity of blue colours in edible plants and animals. Blue is often associated with alkaline conditions, whereas most organic life is mildly acidic. Food scientists have conceded that there are no natural food dyes of a blue colour, and yet psychological research has concluded that blue is a relaxing colour with a positive influence on mental and physical performance. Nevertheless, there are a few brave foodstuffs that daringly cross the boundaries and promote themselves, bravely, as blue...
