WAAH! They no longer make crispy.

It's bad enough that they only temporarly carried White Chocolate, it's bad enough that they only temporariliy carried Caramel, but to deprive us of our Crispy?

I need to get Griff in here to lay down some smack on m&m's. She considers them inferior American chocolate. :D

The best m&m-style candy I ever had were Cadbury Astros in South Africa. They have a biscuit ( cookie ) center and are just the best. Astros have apparently been discontinued in the UK so South Africa is the only place in the world that still has them!

Griff likes Nestle Smarties, not to be confused with the American Smarites, which are a horrible fruit flavored concoction. I think the coating on Nestle Smarties is kind of chalky, though.

I do love the peanut butter m&m's. When I visited Griff in RSA I she had me bring over a big bag of them for one of her friends who loves them but can't get them in RSA.

I scoff at their rebranding of plain m&m's to "milk chocolate" m&m's. They're plain!

I'm rather surprised they got rid of the crispy kind. They had those for many years. The caramel ones sound like they would have been pretty good.

Peanut butter M&M's are so gross

All American "chocolate" is inferior when you didn't grow up eating it :P

Smarties ( the South African kind ) are delicious. You have to eat them right, though - don't just bite down. Sort them into different coloured piles and alternate eating a few from this pile with a few from that pile ... let them melt in your mouth a little ... ooohhhhh. They are the best :D

Cadbury's Astros are also delicious. Really, it is hard to find chocolate bars in South Africa that aren't! ( the coconut ones aren't, for instance ;) )

Awww geez, I wish I had access to some of that now. On one hand it is good I don't, because it is more sugary stuff I do not eat, but I seem to be getting fat in America just fine without even eating any chocolate :LMAO: It is the huge portions and the fatty, starchy food!

Gah why throw the peanuts away when you have sucked all the chocolate off?

I give them to the savages who I have the misfortune to call cousins...

I discovered M&Ms thanx to ET. I discovered D&D too, but that's another story... :)

Not tried any other M&Ms, but its not 70% cocoa so: meh.

OOOoooooh Griffy. Griffy Griffy Griffy. I'll certainly agree with you on Hershey as far as the most American sounding American chcoolate goes. But have you had Ghirardelli? Also ours and pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. Might not be as good as Cadbury or Galaxy or Calliere(can't spell. it's another swiss one) or Milka or Belgian seashell chocolates or Rittersport or Lindt.....but it's nice. ;) Must also put in a plug for one company we have over on this side in PA, New York, and New Jersey. Gertrude Hawk chocolates are pretty good too.

Write to M&M, via This Link and tell them to bring back crispy.

Bringing back white chocolate or caramel are also good ideas but lower priority.

I used to know someone in Quality Control at m&m's, but they were fired for discarding all the w's.

There'll be no more blue or green Smarties -- at least for a while. As of Monday, the Canadian candy no longer contains artificial colours, and that has slightly changed the shades that Smarties come in. Green is expected to be added later this year, and Smarties maker Nestlé is still "developing a non-artificial blue colour that meets the company's high quality standards," says a news release.

They brought back blue smarties in the UK some time ago, I remember the advertising campaign, so obviously they found a natural blue colouring. :D

Stretching it..but borage flowers. You can eat them. There's blue corn as well though that's getting closer to black.

Have another look. Despite their name, blueberries are more dark purple.

As Eru says, I think the natural blue colouring will come from flowers of some sort. It might not be the same plastic-neon blue we're used to, but it'll be blue.

Purple potatoes can be anything from turquoise to magenta, when cooked and mashed, depending on what you mix in with them. Milk, being slightly alkaline, produces aqua potatoes. Red cabbage can also be used as a litmus, with the cabbage juice turning blue when mixed with baking soda. Not the best candy flavoring, though. :P

Most blue in nature is either structural (like blue jays) or a cyanide compound (like forget me nots).

The article I linked to earlier says they are using a seaweed called spirulina, which is a blue/green algae.
