Jacob's surgery went well. He woke up with all 10 toes, which was good news for him...
Not so good news for me, as I had teased him about being
"Jakie, of the nine toes".
His burns weren't nearly as bad as they had been anticipating they would be & several areas, including his head, were healing well enough that they didn't even need grafts.
Samuel is still in surgery right now, but the surgeon was very hopeful this morning about the work he had ahead of him.
The nurses are calling them the "miracle kids" because there is no logical explination for how they are still alive.
My mom explained to Samuel what had happened. In typical teenager fashion he thought it was "cool" that his hair had been on fire. My mom didn't think it was quite so cool.
He also wanted to know if Mom could see his skelaton when he was electrocuted. Mom's reply was "This was not like in the cartoons! But you did light up the block for a few seconds."
It's been good to have some humor about the situation.
Jake visited Sam before he was allowed to come home on Thursday & Sam told him he looked "funny". Jake said "You don't look too great yourself."
It's so good to have everyone on the mend, including those who just suffered an emotional "shock".
Samuel is on a travel soccer team here in town & they won their tournament game today, in his honor. After the game most of the team came to visit him, which was such a great gesture.
The outpour of concern in the community is still overwhelming. It's been amazing to see how many people & lives this has touched.
My parents are doing ok, as is my littlest sister, who saw it all happen. We have a lawyer who is following up on the contractor to make sure his insurance covers all the medical bills. If he tries to get away with anything we will probably sue. Otherwise, it's looking like this man might lose his insurance coverage because we'll probably use it all up.
The local tv stations covered the story, but really tried to put a melodramatic twist on it. We are more concerned about the boys all mending, than this man, right now.
