Good Earth has another rather nice one called Sweet and Spicy original tea blend. It's kind of like drinking liquid cinnamon hearts. I made the mistake of putting sugar in it the first time just because I can be a sugar fiend, but only use milk after I learned better and I imagine it could be fine without that as well....I just use it out of habit and for the visual asthetics. It's quite sweet without anything in it as far as teas go.
It never occurred to me to put milk in this one. Have you tried both ways by now, and if so, which do you prefer?

Conveniently enough, I have some of those teabags in my office. I guess I'll try one with milk and see what I think.

Teabagging in the office seems awfully perverted to me. Just sayin' is all.

At my previous workplace, one of my coworkers was an East Asian immigrant, who was still becoming versed in the ways of American pop culture. We'd go to Starbucks every afternoon to get a drink and often, a sweet pastry - an outing she called "Afternoon Delight," as it was a sweet-tasting, refreshing break from a grindingly busy job.

...and then we brought a new coworker on board, who enlightened us as to the pop culture meaning of "Afternoon Delight." Undeterred, we continued to invite him to "come to Afternoon Delight," though he'd always respond, "I'd be happy to join you guys for afternoon coffee."

So, given these perverted roots, I quite unapologetically enjoy the yield of the teabag, sometimes with milk, in my current position.

Lali, you use cream instead of milk? doesn't that make the tea a bit sickly? Cream is wonderful in coffee (she said, wondering why her jeans don't fit anymore :blackeye: ) but I can't imagine it in tea - too thick.
Nope, it makes it wonderful! I don't mind it thicker or sweeter.

This is a preemptive :salmon: for holby, whom I know is taking this to naughty places. :suspicious:

(How do I know? Because my mind is there, too! )

The only perversions I draw the line at are the weird North American habits with tea!
:help:
Cream in tea Lali? :Q
I blame the decline of proper tea on tea bags. Instruments of the devil I reckon.

Yes, what's wrong with cream? You know I mean the liquid stuff, right? Like heavy whipping cream or even liquid creamer. I use powdered creamer, too, if I don't have the liquid stuff. How is milk any better?

Myth No. 9: Tea bags are lowbrow.

Actually, they come in classy whole-leaf mesh pouches these days. Michelle Wu, owner of Chicago’s Loose Leaf Tea Loft, noted that loose-leaf teas are considered higher quality than bagged tea because the leaves are larger and have more room to expand and give up their flavor. If you do use tea bags, “buy a brand such as Mighty Leaf where you can actually see the tea leaves,” said Susan Blumberg, author of “All the Tea in Chicago” (Des Voeux, $9.99).
So :salmon: for Tosh.

There are a few brands now that have whole tea leaves inside mesh bags. Revolution is one. They are super good!

*gets ready to defend corner*

It's not the quality of the tea inside the bag; I'm sure one can find good quality tea in bags if you look. It's the consequential habit of sticking the tea bag in the cup. The place for tea to brew is in a proper pot: then it gets poured in a cup. I'm no rabid royalist but I have to sympathise with Prince Charles when he was handed a cup of tea at the White House with a tea bag floating in it. The only parallel I can think of is the Palace offering the President a cup of instant coffee with the spoon sticking up out of the cup.
The other drawback to a tea bag is that you are giving up the decision on how strong you want it to some manufacturer's guess at an average.
I may be fighting a losing battle - lots of people buy tea bags in the UK. Not me though. Apart from some herbal drinks or tisanes ( a useful French word) which aren't tea anyway I buy my tea loose and expect to continue.

PS I'm drinking a cup of tisane (not tea) made in a pot from lemon balm cut in the garden as I write this.

Mmmm, I won't deny that I find PG Tips teabags tasty and convenient. But cream and other non-milk additions are a scary thought! :Q

*defends cream corner*

Until you've tried it, you may not give a verdict on it. :pout:

One of my favorite concoctions right now is Irish Breakfast tea with sugar and Italian Sweet Creme.

I love loose leaf teas, but I am also inherently lazy, especially in the morning.

Right now I could murder a cup of tea, so I'm off upstairs to make one.

Loose tea, Murchie's Special Blend, made in a pot. Served with milk.

Cream in tea? Dear me. What is the world coming to? :Q

It's too.....creamy. To our Brit tastes it makes it too sickly and dense. We drink as a normal course of events Indian tea which is very bitter. We grew into the habit of drinking it with just enough milk to soften the bitterness. Stronger tea needs more milk. I like my tea pretty strong but my wife makes it even stronger and I often have to creep into the kitchen to dribble a little more milk in it. But if I err and put too much in then.....
 :thumbsdown

I tried cream in tea once. It wasn't nice. It was far too thick and made the tea too heavy. Of course, I don't like milk in my tea anymore so it's not surprising I didn't like the cream. No cream in tea, but definitely cream in coffee. It's much more superior to milk in coffee.

Tosh, if you brew loose tea leaves in a pot, how do you keep the leaves out of your cup?

A tea strainer. The used tea leaves get recycled in the garden for acid loving plants.
I don't use milk in the less tannic teas such as Chinese or, when I drink them, Ceylon teas. Milk would drown out the flavour.

I used to drink tea with cream when I lived in Spain; it made the tea less bitter. Also, Spanish milk is rubbish. I get the same creamy taste that I love in my tea from using fresh British milk. But if I'm having tea at one of those places with little plastic pots of milk and cream, I'll sneak in a bit of cream with the milk.

I don't get the horror of teabags or of spoons sticking out of cups. Spoons are useful. You can use them for stirring more sugar or milk/cream in, and they help the drink get cooler faster.

I don't do protocol with my drinks.

You don't do protocol with your drinks? Jeez. We have to do something about that, Missy.

Cream is too fat for tea. I used whole milk for most of my life, then when we switched to 2% I used that, now we use 1% and that's fine but I cannot for the life of me make the jump down to skim (no fat) milk. I just CAN'T.

As for coffee, I used to use both cream and sugar but one day I figured out that over the course of an average day I was eating at least a half cup of sugar. So I stopped using sugar. Then one day a chum got peeved at me for whining because she had no cream and no milk either for my coffee. "You're grownup," she said caustically. "Drink yer coffee plain, ya wimp!" or words to that effect, and so I bit the bullet (figuratively speaking ) and ever since I drink it plain . . . . the way it's supposed to be. :horse:
