Aww, Anthy, I like you too.

Can we ban car accidents? And make it retrospective so I have my car back?!

Anthy, I already called for the banning of fleas and mosquitoes, but am so glad you expanded the list to include chiggers and ticks. Vile creatures.

Which reminds me of another species to ban: fire ants.

I didn't know I was standing in a nest of them until they had swarmed all up my legs and started stinging. I screamed. They bit. My legs swelled to twice their normal size, and I was sick for a week.

This was in Florida in the 1970s.

They've been migrating north since then.

They've been spotted in my county.

Ban them. Ban them all. Now!

yovargas, that was back when Michael Jackson was still a black man, not an ugly white woman.

Yes, he was beautiful and he had such talent.

But. Shit happens, and it happened to him, as far as we can see.

I took my son and my nephew to see him when he was still part of the Jackson Five. I hated every single second of the show, but the kids liked it.

I generally loathe child performers, and he was about the most loathsome, but he had a brief period of being great.

Jackson's music isn't really my style, but there are maybe 6-8 of his songs that I like quite a bit. That tells me he is/was pretty talented to get me to listen to music I am not overly fond of.
He is such a tragic figure though. He has totally lost touch with reality.

Tragic is the word.

Look at his dad's face sometime and tell me that's not a cruel man.

But, once you're a grownup, and M. J. is a grownup, you gotta grow up.
As you say, he has lost touch with reality and his reality is pretty ugly.

I feel very, very, very sorry for those children of his.

We should ban freezing sleet, which has pretty much shut down stuff around here for the moment, freezing sleet on top of three of four inches of very wet snow, which hopefully will not turn into huge sheets of ice overnight.

We already had to bail out one friend of Andrew's who attempted to climb up the slight incline on our circle and got his car stuck, thank goodness for cat litter!! Then I witnessed two neighbors trying to leave out of their driveways onto that same ice slicked downhill slope and promptly skid out as well, so we is going nowheres tonight. :blackeye:

As far as ticks go, all I can recall is the one totally gross experience i also had as a child while off camping with the family, I got one on me and I think my parents tried soaking it with kerosene or gasoline or something, and the first extraction only removed one half of it, and then we had to await with awe and horror the extraction of the head part. /Shudders/ Ban them like the Husnock!!

It is even worse when you have to pick the little blood sucking nasties off of your pets, who HAVE been treated for such stuff. Ban all blood sucking nasties, the birds can evolve and find something else more tasty to eat, like ASIAN LADY BUGS!! I do not want to ban them , but whoever thought THIS was a good idea? GRR! Every autumn, I have swarms of these things flying about my windows and doors trying to find a way in to hibernate or whatever it is that they do, and you never see them at all during the spring or summer.

And, while we are at it, I want to ban unsolicited phone calls, even though I am on a "do not contact" sort of list, and I want to ban those people who keep giving me fifteen thousand variations on the yellow pages, they creep up in the night, I swear, and leave these things on your doorstep. Invariably, they do this when it is raining or something out, so what you get is a half soaked soggy mess in a wet plastic bag that you promptly toss out into your recycle bin in any case.

As far as Hollywood or other "celebs" I could care less about what such people do, they frankly do not deserve my attention unless they are doing something really worthwhile, and 99% of the time, this is not at all anything near the case. Oh, can I add in those journalists that keep publishing stories about dead people? Like "really long dead people" such as Princess Di, JFK, Nicole Simpson, etc. For my whole life, I avoided tabloid journalism, but now, no matter what sites I go to , I am assaulted with this crap. Call me cynical, call me crass, call me just not caring, I want to see real news, not the latest gossip and opinion polls and whether or not Di was expecting or if JFK got someone with a bun n the oven etc. Deal with what we have now, I guess that would make journalists need to actually do their jobs and the public really care about what is going on. What a novel thought that might be for the 21st century. :)

I know. I want to ban all "new" Yellow Pages and go back to the old, lovely, common-sense, easy-to-use Yellow Pages that we used to have.

I HATE these new ones, HATE them, HATE them, HATE them. I don't want 4 million restaurant menus, I want a plain, ordinary listing of restaurants. I don't want pull out shit. I want the emergency numbers printed clearly on the inside front cover. I want . . . to turn back time.

Then, of course, we get "super pages" which are an alphabetical listing of businesses. YOU MORONS!!!!! If I knew the godamned name of the godamned business I could bloody well look it up myself. The Yellow Pages were about "types" of businesses. You know, Tire Stores, Grocery stores, Automotive Repairs . . .

Why? :rage: Why? :rage: Why? :rage: Why? :rage:

And yes, The Watcher, I get those sodden bags of useless directories, too. Why? :rage: Why? :rage: Why? :rage:

*sobs in frustration*

When I first saw the title of this thread, in conjunction "Happy Holiday Fluff 'n Stuff" I thought it was going to ban Christmas-related nuisances. Can we ban boring family get-togethers, the commercialism and rush of gift-purchasing, and the focus on one particular day? It isn't even when Christ was born; by my calculations, He was born around March.

Edit: Whoops, forgot about the Jewish and Gregorian calendars being staggered. Christ was born around May/June.

I agree. I mean, look at the girl on the left... that cowboy hat just makes her stand out in a bad way.

You can't really say that until you've seen this video. I love whales, I love Josh Groban, but after seeing whales singing and dancing to Josh Groban, the fact that he was basically the male Celine Dion hit me over the head with the subtlety of a ton of bricks.

No rush! But if you liked him in this commercial you mentioned, you'll really get a kick out of the music video.

Not that I am a male, of course, but what qualifies in your mind and others here as "old?" Both Liddy and Holby are younger than me for example, not by much, mind you, but still....

You're a doofus. Liddy is younger than you, but for the 1000th time I am older. By a few months.
But what in God's name does that have to do with anything? Hmm?
You just wanted to trounce my sensibilities. :rage:

TW, "older than me", for the most part, and with nothing more read into it.

I was a Walken hater for a long time, too, vison (so many squicky roles in my childhood). He's now really just a caricature of himself, but hey, it's quite enjoyable.
Man, *E*, you kill me with your sig pics. Seriously. I still chortle whenever I remember the Friends/Star Trek crossover one ("Damage report, lieutenant Data Bing?" "Cold there BE any more casualties?" - LOLZ), and this last one is pure genius.

I think there's poetry in yov's list. It could work as a Baz Luhrmann's "Wear Sunscreen" -type song.

But I don't want emos banned. I <3 emos. They're goths reincarnated, and so much cuter than chavs!

I don't think we should ban Micheal Jackson. If you think about it, MJ is the embodiment of the great American dream.
Only in America could a poor black boy grow up to be a rich white woman.
