I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

I've cried a thousand oceans, and I would cry a thousand more if that's what it takes to sail you home.

TM,

I agree right now, but for different reasons and no doubt different posters.

Wow...TheMary is angry and Lidless is, too...but at different people and for different reasons!

*wonders what the reasons are*

*wonders if she made the cut on either TheMary's or Lidless' list*

*shrugs*

*goes back to cleaning the flat*

;)

I can't help but notice your title, TM: "Board77 makes me Furious!!!!"

You might want to think about that. Do you really want something outside yourself to "make" you be angry if you don't want to be? Do you really want something else to have that kind of power over you?

Whenever I catch myself thinking or saying "You make me SO MAD!" I stop, and deliberately rephrase it, because I'm so contrary I can't stand the thought of someone controlling my emotions. I decide when I am angry. No one else can MAKE me angry. Other people can do things they think will make me angry, but my range of possible responses is almost unlimited. I can laugh. I can cry. I can pretend they don't exist. Sometimes rage IS the appropriate response, and sometimes I act angry even when I'm not (that is a dealing with teenagers thing.)

But don't ever let someone make you be angry. That's giving them way too much power over YOUR life.

I have to respectfully disagree, Maria. There is a class of people that do have, even perhaps should have, the power to make me angry. It's a small class, but it's an important one: the people I care about, my family, my friends. I think TM alludes to that:
Quote:
And yet it's unfortunate because everyone I'm angry at I like.
When we are close to someone, part of that closeness is by definition a surrender of some (not all!) boundaries. We let them inside our defenses, layer by layer. Some (spouses, children, parents) we let in very deep indeed. For others--friends in particular--we don't know how deeply they affect us until they do something that DOES make us angry, because only then do we realize how much power we have given to them to affect us emotionally.

Here's a  for the angry. I've been there. Hell, I was angry at my son this morning for farting around when he needed to be getting ready for school. But I was also angry at myself for being angry--it's not like he was being mean or mopey. He was just being four, and a pretty happy (if easily distracted) four. And I was angry at society for forcing me to structure my life around arbitrary schedules, and for making me enforce that on him at that age. But I apologized for yelling at him without cause, and he acknowledged he should do what we ask the first time, and we hugged, and I don't think I did lasting damage to him. I hope. :(

Now if we're talking about people whom you don't really care about--yeah, piss on them. Don't let them ruin your day. :)

Er...when I said other posters, I wasn't necessarily talking about B77.
