That's great news, Silwen, and Bath is a gorgeous city.

I can't wait to settle in :) I hope it all happens fast and am waiting to hear from the landlord. In Germany we don't have to supply references when lookng for a place to stay, so that was new to me though it seems common practice in the UK. It makes sense, I suppose.

I think the day may be drawing closer. I can't stay here much longer so Mark and I are trying to speed things up as far as we can. If only the landlord would hurry up! I gotta go.

Today I got my largest suitcase down from the attic and started packing some of the clothes I am unlikely to need before the move. The suitcase is much smaller than I remembered. :suspicious: It is aready half full so there really isn't much else I can take with me and I am afraid I may lose the stuff I have to leave behind till I can pick them up at a later date. Still, it can't be changed. And the longer the wait, the less I care.

 Sounds like things are getting a little desperate there. :(

I hope you can speed it up as much as possible!

Noooooooo kidding. :rage:

There's a roundabout I pass by quite often that has a sign saying Burford is 15 miles away. I would have been that close!

.
.

I hope the landlord gets his stuff together Silwen and you get to come over soon!

Yes, I do. :D Mark contacted the agents again since they hadn't responded in weeks after the initial query. They now said I am free to move in right away and won't even need to supply a recommendation since Mark already lives there and they trust that's enough they need to know, especially since they know he has always been able to pay the rent, so they needn't worry.

So tomorrow I am going to book a flight and deregister at the council. And that's that! I'll have to remember to tell everyone, especially official places, where I'm going. Most of it will have to be done after I'm already gone since this is happening rather fast now.

Yay, Silwen! Will you have an internet connection at his apartment (sorry if you mentioned this already, I don't remember) ? Important information, after all. ;)

Oh, and  !

It's so exciting! :D Thanks for all your good wishes. I booked the flight this morning and am leaving on the 24th already. I've packed some more stuff today, threw old things away etc. Next week I'll go to Giessen (where I lived and studied for many years) to say goodbye to some friends, sort university stuff out and get my hair cut so I look decent when I move. I feel like trying a new style now that all is changing, but I don't know what. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Rebecca, yes I will have internet and will probably check in here every day or two. I won't be online nearly as much as in the last few years, but you won't lose me.

EDIT 2: Corrected the date. :doh1:

Oops, I thought this may not be the right expression. It means that I am no longer a resident here in this town. I had to go to the council and tell them I was leaving.
