Thanks!

And here's the rest of what I bought. It was from Home Depot's Design Expo, I guess they're closing them all down. So everything was for sale, including the displays and shelving. The office chairs were ones that the employees used, so that's why they were such a great prices.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these things, but I'm sure I'll come up with something. :P

I got these cabinet doors for $1 each! I was so tempted to buy more, but I do live in an apartment without a lot of storage space. :blackeye: These I'll probably turn into picture frames.

These ons I might use for displaying jewelry at craft shows or something. [ img ] My cat was very interested in them.

Then I picked up these displays of drawer pulls for $5 each board. Now I have way more than I know what to do with. :D

And if anyone knows what this was displaying, please let me know. :P I just thought they were so cool. The only thing I can think of turning them into is trivets. But in any case, they're fun.

Cupcakes! :D Soaps! :D Truffles! :D

It all looks really great, I must say. Especially your idea for the cupboard doors will look amazing, I think. Reminds me of the kidn of doors we have here in the flat - I've been wanting to cut fabric or pictures into shape to display in the cassette-type spaces (at least that is what they are called in German  ) on the doors. That is very similar to what you will be doing.

I read lots of crafty blogs and there's lots of knitters out there. Since we have so many here, too, I figured I'd share this for those of you that knit and are tired of buying yarn. :P

Ew.

I can't remember where I saw it but on TV I did see a woman who collected her dog's hair and made sweaters out of it. :uhoh:

Don't know about that, but I remember an episode of What Not to Wear with some woman who kept silkworms and used their silk to make something......also had a sweater made from her rabbit's fur, I believe.

Recycling's good, so why not? :D A lot of prople from the german knitting group I met up with every month made bags out of old shopping bags. If you choose the right colours they can really good and they are very sturdy.

Do any of you guys embroider? Silwen, I think you did, right?

I went to a craft workshop this weekend and got a goodie bag with lots of things in it, including what looks like this embroidery pattern:

I don't embroider and don't really have any interest in it. Anyone want it?

Yes, I used to embroider, but I left all my stuff in Germany and gave some of it away. Thanks for remembering. :) I wouldn't have any use for the kit though, I'm afraid. Let's hope you find someone who wants them instead. How come you don't embroider (or do you)?

Some days ago I finished a baby blanket for a friend and I just have to sew the ends in and post it all. This is the whole blanket, here is a close-up, and this is an even closer one.

I am hoping to start painting or drawing again sometime. I had to leave all my art supplies and pictures in Germany and am starting to miss them. Maybe I can show some of my art sometime.

I don't embroider mostly because I don't like to follow patterns. :P I generally don't like projects that are repetitive. And I'm not that big a fan of how embroidery looks when it's all finished anyway. So I just don't bother. :blackeye:

I've been wanting to get into sewing more, so I might need to get over my dislike for patterns, though. :P

I prefer cross-stitching, but I do embroider. Silk ribbon embroidery is more fun than regular embroidery, imo, but I just can't find much use for it. :( I should just do it for its own sake, I guess. One year for Mother's Day, I designed a piece for my mom. I cross-stitched the Bible verse about "Her children arise up and call her blessed," and then I did a field of silk ribbon flowers in an oval around it. I'll have to take a picture and post it.

This, however, is the cross-stitch piece that I've been working on for years. I do it for a while, then put it away for a long time. It has a lot of Irish white work on it that I still have to do, but I'm considering not doing it and calling it done.

That looks very, very pretty, Lali. I also like the colours there. Like you, I don't find a lot of use for embroidery/cross-stitch. It is fun to do though. I may do some later in the year to make some advent calendars because I haven't got one hear and have been wanting to make some anyway for years. Either cross-stitch or knitting. Tough choice!

The other day I made a really nice body scrub. I've had a couple of sugar scrubs from random e-tailers and Lush makes a salt scrub that I like. But they tend to be so expensive! So I was bored and decided to make my own. It turned out fabulous. Now I feel addicted and want to try mixing all sorts of stuff to make more scrubs. :P So it works out that you have to make just a small amount, since there's no preservatives or anything.

I didn't measure anything, but I mixed together (until I got a nice consistency):

Leftover coffee grounds
White sugar
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Honey
Splash of vanilla extract and almond extract

I don't know that I really followed a recipe, I spent a lot of time browsing looking up different recipes. :P This page had lots of information and I could link some recipes if anyone wanted. My skin was so soft after using this. Way more than any Lush or any other stuff I've used. And way cheaper! Yay! The little boy that I work with and I are going to make a few small batches for his mom for mother's day. :)

That sounds perfect! I love the idea (any bodycare/beauty product is fun :D ). Doesn't the sugar melt easily in this scrub though?

I only made enough to last about three days. And the sugar wasn't dissolved. The only liquids were honey and oil (plus a splash of vanilla) so it stayed nice and scrubby. Yesterday we made one with salt, but just regular table salt wasn't the best consistency. It was all they had, though. :P We added some sugar to help, but it was a bit more like playing with play dough than using a sugar scrub.

The boy I work with is 5 and he likes making things like this. We made two scrubs for Mother's Day (and made flowers to glue to the container out of plastic to be recycled, like a milk jug and frozen meal container :D ) and he told me "This is the best thing we've done, ever!" :P

I got the DVD of The Gondoliers yesterday!

Observations:

1. My singing has improved vastly since I changed teachers. I should have done so 5 years ago!
2. I need to work on my posture.

Don't be too critical! :salmon:

(I always think the same thing with my posture, though.)
