I'm of the opinion that the majority of the words in the English language are stoopfid.

Also, a word I made up: countersubjective, meaning of or pertaining to the countersubject.

Lisp, dyslexia, monosyllabic, and abbreviation definitely gave it away. ;) I've never heard of rhotacism, but didn't understand raze, or long / short. Halp?

Lately I have disliked the words suck and blow. Both can mean that something is no good, but the point where they better fit in this thread is in the sexual context. Not to open up discussion on it. :P Just seems dumb to me.

'Long' is a shorter than 'short', and 'short' is longer than 'long'.
'Raze' sorta means the opposite of 'raise'.
'Red'?

'rhotacism' - the unability to pronounce the letter 'r'.

Most of those words are Greek, actually.

Ack not that I like to correct people, but I fear you'll find it is inablility not unability...

Gah the English are filthy pirates and their language merely reflects that... ;)

Big hey to you all.

So you're saying we don't know our 'r's from our elbows?

Of course we don't pronounce it anyways. That would mean that 'roof' would sound like 'anywaysoof'.

Slightly off topic, but I never really picked up on americans pronouncing "roof" a certain way until I saw The Dark Knight. Right at the beginning, one of the clowns is saying that there's, "two guys on the roof" while driving to the bank, and it very clearly sounds like "ruff". Great voice on that guy, btw.
