So, I've been meaning to post here more ever since the Chicago m00t in Evanston. I got to know a lot more people there, and got a little more comfortable with the idea. Before, I just new a few people...namely Borry, Rune, and Elsha. A few more vaguely, like friendly acquaintances. The m00t came and went, time passed, and I decided that I would start posting here as soon as I got double ringbearer on TORC. I got that a few months ago, and put off posting mainly because of time constraints - university and work keep me pretty busy, as well as planning for summer, work, internships, possible volunteering or study abroad...just lots of stuff.

It's 1:30 AM right now. I have to finish reading half of The Knight's Tale and write a detailed, analytical response to turn in tomorrow for my 300-level Chaucer class. :help: It was during one of my stress/procrastination episodes tonight that I realized there was never going to be a "right", convenient time for me to start posting here. So I've decided to stop waiting for one. I've been looking forward to getting to know more people here, and I don't want those constraints holding me back anymore.

Also there's been some more drama on the other boards, the events of which I just unleashed on poor Don, who just got online at the wrong time. So this place is new, yet familiar, and an escape. Sounds pretty darn good to me.

Please let me stay? :Wooper:

Thanks everyone! :D And yes, of course there's no drama here - heaven forbid. And actually, the drama I spoke of was not so much with TORC or any particular group, but with one particular person that posts on mentioned boards.

Wait a minute...Elsha STILL posts here??? Pffftt, screw this.

:D

Have you read Terry Jones' take on the Knight in Canterbury Tales? (Terry Jones from Monty Python) He reckons that Chaucer disapproved of him as a brutal mercenary and did a hatchet-job on him.

I summarise that quite a bit. You'd have to check it out to get it more accurately.

No but I'd be happy to read anything by anyone associated with Monty Python. He doesn't happen to have a take on The Clerk does he? I have to give a presentation on him, basically teaching the class for 45 minutes. I have zero dynamism (sp?) and saying I utterly suck at speaking in public is an understatement, so any help with that would be nice. I'm thinking of asking Luthy (luthienelflover) if her fiance will give me any help with that, being a possible future Chaucerian.

Dunno about the Clerk, sorry. Was that the tale of Griselde? A very put upon woman if I remember right. Give me the Wife of Bath any day providing I could outlive her.

(She buried a lot of husbands)

Hello again vison and laureanna. It's now the weekend, which is the best time to procrastinate, IMO. You can still whip me though. :heya:

Brian - that's good. Comedy is much easier to deal with than drama.

ToshoftheWuffingas - Yes, it's the one about Griselda. I honestly don't know whether I hate her or her husband more....probably her. The Wife of Bath would certainly be a better wife...you know, if I were a guy. I'm not a feminist or anything, but that woman (Griselda) just needed a good hammer to the head. :rage:

Also...I'm afraid I'm going to have to use all of the smilies before my life is complete. They are just too fun to pass up. :bounce:
