Nope, me too. I thought it might be work blocking the source.

The site must be blocking remote linking.

Try this: right-click over the broken image, choose "copy image location", and then paste it into your address bar.

I tried that Jude and the links resolve back to the home page, so you're not linking to the actual image.

If you do a quoted reply, you'll see we both linked to image url's, but they must have some redirecting code.

The funny thing is, since the image is in my cache, I can look at my post and see the exact image I was attempting to link to.

I don't know why they do that - having people link to your images is the best way to publicize your site. Self-defeating, I think.

It`s only advertising if your site`s name is on the image, cuz I sure as heck don`t check the source of every image I enjoy, let alone pass by.

Now, knowing an article`s title and your searches still not showing any results for it, that`s one way to piss off potential visitors. Best I could do was put the image name on google, but that won`t take me to the exact image you posted. Any of these right? https://www.google.ca/search?q=funny-spelling-on-signs11.jpg

Weird Comments in the Bookstore

It's not exactly failblog or whatever, but this was pretty funny. :)

ETA: I'm not sure what's going on with that url. And I don't have to time to try to figure it out.

Some of those are pretty funny.

But I rather like "Did Charles Dickens ever write anything fun?" If you've only read things like Oliver Twist and A Tale of Two Cities, I can see where you'd think his books are pretty gloomy.

On a related note, I've been reading a book by Edmund Crispin called The Moving Toyshop. The protagonists are at Oxford and play a game called "annoying characters in literature." In this game, you name an annoying character (who was written to be sympathetic), and if the other person agrees, they get to name one, and so on. I'd have to nominate Tiny Tim from A Christmas Carol.

btw, I think your url problem is the parenthesis in front of the second bracket
.... like%22}]

Hi Lali, all that stuff after the ? are arguments being passed to the webpage. In this case they seem to be for tracking facebook activity. If you strip off everything from the ? on, you get the simple URL, like so:

[ url=http://www.csmonitor.com/Books/2012/100 ... ens-downer]Weird Comments in the Bookstore[ /url ]

Hmmm, thanks! I knew it had to be something with the {}, but I was copying the url directly from the site. However, I had gotten to the site via a link on FB, so there you go.

aninkling, that does sound like a fun discussion!

I liked the one about Dr. Who! :LMAO:

And I was able to copy the link into a new window and got to the right site, by leaving off that last } in the url Go figure. :D

Jude and Lali, I'm not sure how it would work with more than 2 people. If either one of you has any good ideas, go ahead and start a thread. I'm probably going to be madly busy this week.

Actually, I'm not sure I would be able to think of enough characters that I find annoying that were actually intended to be sympathetic. The game might die out after a couple of rounds.

Since I've just read David Copperfield, the first example that comes to mind is Dora. All during their courtship I wanted to reach into the book and yell "Run, David! Ruuuuun!!!!! It'll never work!"

I can't figure out if Dickens actually meant her to be touchingly pathetic, or whether all her helplessness was just an act. What a sick, sick person. (Dora, that is, not Dickens)

I have no idea why this picture is on failblog - it looks absolutely beautiful to me:

Until somebody points out the obvious joke that I'm missing, I'll just bask in its loveliness.

I dunno - does it look like bad photoshopping to you? The caption on the site just said "Tree tunnel in Brussels".
