Uranium ore WILL NOT set off a geiger counter. There's not enough uranium in the ore and, anyway, alpha radiation doesn't set off a standard geiger counter. Also, I've done the experiment - my dad somehow got his hands on a uranium ore sample some years ago. When I was in HS I brought it in to chemistry class while we were covering radioactivity. Nothing above background. The ore sample is floating around in the house somewhere now.
But the reviewer's comments were gold. Pure gold. Or maybe I should say pure uranium?
