Oh, I agree with Estel's disagreement and Jude's agreement with Estel's disagreement.

You know, I'm sure they might taste good, but that can't be healthy! And with butter?

That's like that terrible thing I saw on Paula Dean's cooking show--2 glazed donuts, fried egg, and cheeseburger.

Healthy? HEALTHY????

Its a Chip Butty! Its not meant to be HEALTHY!!! Its meant to be ridiculously tasty. And like everything thats ridiculously tasty each one takes about 5 years off your life. Buts it ok, they're 5 of the crappy ones at the end...

Too many carbs in one sitting for my taste. That's like having a couple of pieces of fried bread between the bread slices. Or just eating half a loaf of bread.... white carbohydrates are all alike.

Trust me when I say a Chip Butty is nothing like eating half a loaf of bread. It might break down to the same thing in the end for all I know, but the eating of it is where the magic happens, not after! ;)

Chip sandwiches and crisp sandwiches are both bloody incredible...

And curiously, the chip sandwich/butty is all the better for being made with crappy mushy supermarket pap-style bread. Perhaps because it clings to the chips better.
The chips have to be really hot for it to work.

I've bought 3 joints of roasting beef in Marks and Spencer for cheapness. Anyone like to recommend what to put in a sandwich with a few slices of beef?

I have known people over here to put potato chips in sandwiches (crisps, I think, to you guys?) for some extra crunch-but that's always with some kind of meat in the sandwich.

There is nothing cheap in Marked As Expensive. But that's because it's such good quality.

I'd just use the beef and maybe add a bit of spicy mustard or horseradish (if you like it--which I don't). I'm not big on sloppy sandwiches or lots of condiments. A little goes a long way for me.

Horseradish for me in a beef sandwich. Perhaps some thinly sliced gherkin too but it's the beef that's important.

Another horseradish vote.

Actually, it was the rooster.
That statement and your username make me think of this image:
