One thing I'd like to see die out is sticking "-gate" at the end of whatever word is the media topic of the day - e.g. "climategate", "plamegate", "squidgiegate", etc.

It's etymologically unsound, and it isn't original or even cute any more. :rage:

You know, if the language ever dies out, historians are going to have a heck of a time trying to decipher late 20th/early 21st century English documents. Do people who study Latin run into this sort of thing?
