I work at a Beer Store here in Toronto and as it turns out, a couple people broke into the store the other night. They must have been drunk and or high off their asses cause they broke the door window with their hands and left blood everywhere in the store. All they stole were a few beers and some tracked bait money from the tills in the office.

The clincher though, apart from not wearing masks and being caught on a dozen cameras, they dropped their court papers that had all their info. Smart, smart people without a doubt.

I didn't have to do much work the following morning as forensics were cleaning up the blood and "investigating". Ironically they missed the court papers, my boss found them and called them back to pick them up.

As Freddy always says, "They're stupid and they breed. Job security!"

That is a pretty dumb one, though! My favorite one that Freddy had was the drunk guy they arrested for breaking into an ice machine (one of those that are outside a store or gas station). When they asked the guy where he was coming from, he replied that he was staying at a local hotel.

You know, where they have free ice. :suspicious:

E.R. nurses, who get to see a lot of this sort of thing too, often say "the gene pool could use a little chlorine!"

Or, as Freddy says, "You could step in that gene pool with both feet and not get your toes wet."

The version I've heard the most is, "They come from the shallow end of the gene pool".

I read about this guy who bought a hammer for $9.99 and used it to break into a liquor store window and steal an $8 bottle of wine.

Yes, but the hammer can be re-used, thus giving a positive return-on-investment as early as the second bottle.

Not if the shattered bottle is then used as a weapon thus allowing the thief to get away with more booze.

I still laugh when I hear that store's name. Simple and to the point. :P Think my uncle still works at one, out in Pickering.

You would think its to the point, only people still come in and ask for wine.

This is how it usually goes:

Can I mix some Bacardis and Smirinoffs?
No. We're the Beer Store.
Oh, so you only sell beer?
That's correct.
...
...
What about wine.
Maam, that's still not beer. Have a nice day. *underbreathgrumbleihateyouall*

This is not my forte. :uhoh: I may not have walked in specifically for wine, but I am surprised to hear they don't sell any. Just assumed it was in the same ballpark, like when video stores rent out playstation games. But I can name more movie genres than beer brands...

I do have to agree; it is odd that you only sell beer. It's not nearly as common as a liquor store that sells everything.

I guess that's why they changed the name from "Brewer's Retail", TWT. The Beer Store is a lot more specific, for those who don't have a good grasp of English. And yeah, I'd be tempted to get a little snarky with those who come in looking for wine or liquor.

Sundridge is too small to have a beer store. The liquor store sells cold beer. Only problem is, they refuse to take bottles back, so every so often, I have to make a run to South River to return my bottles! :(

Okay, maybe THAT'S why people expect the beer store to sell more than beer! :LMAO:

State laws in Pennsylvania make it so there are beer store and liquor stores. You can't buy beer in liquor stores, etc. Also, it's common to just buy beer at a bar- you can go in and get a 6 pack or whatever, but they have limits on the amount you buy. So you have to go in, get a case, put it in your car, go back in, buy a case, put it in your car...etc. :blackeye:

And naturally you can't buy beer at grocery stores. That's a bit more common in other states, though.

Is that in hopes they won't recognize you each time, or they're just trying to enforce some exercise?

Each time as you come into the shop, you exclaim "Holy crap, I think I just saw my double!"

Weirdness.

I can buy all kinds of alcohol at our grocery store. We do have liquor stores, and I've seen wine shoppes (<--has to have the extra "pes" you know). I bought vodka at Target, for example.

Its just our laws in Ontario. In some other provinces you can buy beer at convenience stores, etc.

Here though there's only two places you can buy booze, the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) and The Beer Store.

The LCBO can't sell any quantity of beer larger than a 6-pack, so people who buy cases of beer come to The Beer Store. Trust me, I know how rediculous it is. I hate the actual government Liquor Control Board, they're really quite rediculous. Because of their laws I can't order a bottle of wine online from say British Columbia and have it shipped here, cause everything has to be approved by the LCBO.

They also pulled my favorite ever beer, Delerium Tremmens. Why? Cause the name was offensive. I know what the DTs are, but seriously, offensive?

But don't worry, I'm not bitter. :) :uhoh:

It's beer. :suspicious: What consenting adult is being offended by a name for it?
