I've been washing my hair with the shampoo bar lately (it's really just glorified soap) and using 1/2 cup vinegar in 2 cups water as a conditioner. I rinse with distilled water and my hair is softer and shinier than it's ever been before. Plus, it doesn't tangle, either. I have, of course, tried washing my hair with plain soap a couple of times before in my life, but it always was dull and full of static afterwards.
I understand that the vinegar is probably taking the hard mineral deposits out of my hair, and rinsing with distilled keeps me from adding them back in--thus the hair is softer and shinier-- but I don't understand the detangling, anti-static aspect.
AND my scalp is completely healthy like this: no sores, no dandruff. I'm quite pleased with the change.
