So how tall was your bonfire?

My most memorable bonfire was at a Guy Fawkes day in Fife. It was huge - I forget how huge, but much taller than a tall human. And the heat made such a contrast with the cold November air that when you got as close to it as you could stand, your front was extra-hot but your back was cold.

It was a big bonfire. They'd actually started it the night before. I'd say it was at least 5 feet across and about 6 feet high, at least, when it started.

My contacts were melting to my eyeballs, but I loved it! :D It was really cold outside!

Here's the first major splash of color I've seen around here- a patch of sumac running towards the road.

Very cool! It is pretty in the sunshine, but it would be even cooler-looking in a grey fog at twilight.

Part of what Katie wanted to do for her birthday was to go hiking at Glen Helen (a nature preserve near here). It was a spectacular fall day. I mean, honestly. It was perfect.

I have 75+ pics to prove it. :help: And now let me post them all here!

:P Just kidding. I will post a few highlights here, but the link to the album on FB is here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 81af44f9ff

Shots from The Mountain today. I believe these are the first pictures I've posted in this thread that were actually taken in Montréal:

Very nice! The dogs are beautiful, as usual. :) I love the color on the sumacs in the first pic.

And thanks for the nice comment about the first pic of my last post.

Well, we had fall foliage. Nothing like a hurricane to blow it all away at once. :)

Thanks, yes, we're fine. We're well protected by the woods around us. Oddly enough, several tree stakes for our young trees snapped off at the ground, but the trees are fine. I suppose they had enough flexibility to bend with the wind.
