This thread can be seen as a thinly veiled swooning thread, a horrific stepchild of a certain "horror" thread involving alphabets, an abberation of the monthly threads, an osgilliation of the Osgilliate Dictionary, or something new. I see it as simply a dictionary of common and uncommon words, in which the illustration has something to do with hobbits. The "illustration" can be a picture, screen cap, drawing, poem, quote from the Book, quote from the Movie, fanfic, diatribe, or whatever. If it is remotely connected with hobbits or certain actors that have in the past or might in the future play hobbits, that's fine with me. I'm an eclectic pervy hobbit fancier. Foreign words are welcome as well, and foreign alphabets, if they show up as the same letter, consistantly, on all screens.
In general, I'll change the letter about once a week, and change the title.
There are so many good A words, though, it might take two weeks, like angst, abduct, appetite, abhorrent, absurd, abysmal, ale, apprehension, actor, action, adornment, attention deficit disorder, age, art, architecture, ambivalence, ambience, achondroplasia ....
I'll start now with my first entry, but the screen cap will have to wait until I get home tonite.
A is for assuage
assuage [from the Latin "to sweeten"] to lessen pain or distress.
(Insert photo of Frodo pausing after finishing his last entry in the Red Book.)
Frodo finally realizes that nothing here in the Shire will assuage his pain.
OK, it's angsty, but I like ansgty hobbits!
