Just finished reading I am Charlotte Simmons, by Tom Wolfe. Actually, I listened to the audiobook. Anybody else read this? It is about a sweet, innocent girl who goes away to college, and discovers sex, alcohol, coolness, and the life of the mind. Very well written, though I was a little perturbed at the main character by the end of the book. She was a little too shallow for someone of her intelligence.

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday and saw this book and was like "I just read something about this but where?!?!" it was here of course. Sounds like a good read. Perhaps I will check it out after I'm done with GGK and Dickens.....yeah it's gonna be a while :D

Sorry to derail ;)

Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

Hey K- er, Mary. Have you read Great Expectations? I've been wanting to read that ever since I saw the movie with Hawke and Paltrow - I feel some similarities to it. If only I could get a secret benefactor to pay my way to New York and get a show there.

Didn't this book win the bad sex writing award last year?

I don't know, but it did have a sex scene in it that I found to be your typical male writer's sex scene, in which the gal seems to want sex for a number of very shallow reasons that I find hard to relate to.
