I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Upon my wonderful employee Michael's recommendation I have been reading the works of Christoher Moore and I must say he is flippin' hilarious.

Thus far I've devoured Practical Demonkeeping (Moore's first novel), Dirty Little Job (a book that had me laughing out loud many many times and that was just the first two pages alone), and I'm almost finished with Lamb (a great book that parodies Jesus' life according to his childhood best friend Biff).

I invite you all to dsicuss this fantastic writer and share your faves as well.

Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

Is he anything like Terry Pratchett? The titles sound kind of similar. On the lines of funny books, if you haven't read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gamain. then you should.:)

I haven't dug into Prachett yet but from what I've gathered he and Moore are similar! I have Guards Guards! But I'll definitely check out Good Omens. Thanks Lily :D

I just finished Lamb and it cracked me up and made me sad at the same time. I guess it makes sense since the Passion is a sad event.

I just discovered Moore recently. I never noticed we had a thread devoted to him before.

I've enjoyed the few books of his that I've read so far: quirky, original, and amusing.

In answer to Lily's question: no, he's nothing at all like Pratchett.

Still haven't read any Prachett, but I did notice a woman that just finished Lamb on my way back from Verona to Venice. It started a wonderful conversation :)
