Thanks hal. :) And you all have been really good about labeling every post with spoilers in it in the other thread--I really, really appreciate that. I don't want you to keep having to label every single spoiler in the other thread on my account, since the title clearly says spoilers. Now that we have this other thread you don't need to keep doing that, for my part at least, since I won't be going into that thread until I read the book.

So! New non-spoiler topic. Snape. Evil or no? I say absolutely not. Will post my reasoning later.

I think Snape is for Snape.

I don't want to go back into the spoiler thread so I don't know if my question there was already addressed, but while of course posting spoiler info doesn't violate copyright laws, is it really legal to disseminate information that was obtained illegally?

I know TORC locked their DH spoiler thread due to legal concerns...

I suspect it is illegal, actually.

Depends on what you mean by "evil". Snape is nasty, petulant, manipulative, selfish, rude, bitter, twisted, and an unfair and incompetent teacher.

But is he a death eater? I suspect not.

It seems that there have been people who got their book legally though (company shipped it to them too early)...so I would think they'd be able to talk about anything in the book if they like.

Er, well, I suppose Scholastic can start by suing the New York Times for their advance review of the book...which they already went out and bought from a NYC bookstore without Scholastic's permission. :)

Obviously, spoilers.

(Posting this in the non-spoiler thread only because the copyright question was again raised here.)

Jude, I was using "evil" in the sense of Death Eater, yes. But then, as Sirius so eloquently puts it in the film, "The world is not divided into good people and Death Eaters." :) So I guess a better way for me to ask the question is, Snape: loyal to Dumbledore or Voldemort?

Thanks for labeling the review, nel! Prim at Hall of Fire said that she read the review and didn't see any major spoilers, but just in case I won't chance reading it. ;)

I read it Elsha. I'm pretty paranoid about spoilers and I found it more of a teaser than a spoiler. Think of it as a trailer for the book :)

Snape is for Snape. He'll see which side comes out with a better hand and side with them...

Is what I would have said, but since he killed Dumbledore, I don't know how he's going to make the Order trust him again.

Snape... A conundrum. Heh, if he was a D&D character I would label him as Chaotic neutral. A selfish person. Alan Rickman plays a cracking job in the films, but in the books? He's from a different kettle of fish. Certainly mysterous, but then he wouldn't be so interesting if he was spelt out to you.

Obviously not looked at anything HPish for a while, but my romantic side says that Snape will be a good guy in the end... This is a fantasy story after all. If my local Asda has any left on the pallette on Saturday (probably will as most of the locals can't read :P ) I'll perhaps pick one up. Lets' find out how Rowland wraps up this bad boy...

Ahhh that feeling, must feel like Christmas. Garn I envy you HP fans, I've never been able to get excited about HP like that.

I'm going in a few hours, to get a prime spot in the queue.

I only hope no one shouts out spoilers. If they do, I'll personally eat their liver.

I had my copy on pre-order for months, but I had to cancel it at the last minute because I realized that I didn't have any money. :bawl:

Oh no, Lily! :( What a disappointment. Well, I guess you can read it on the internet if you're desperate enough. But I hope you're able to get a copy soon.
