Well, in your position I wouldn't. That way you can read The Blythes are Quoted with new, fresh eyes.

I think that's what I'll do. I might, however, reread the last two in the Anne series.

I just checked Amazon again, and it's still saying that the book is not released. :( Is this some kind of Canadian conspiracy?

Order it from amazon.ca, then! Or go to your local book shop and ask them what the Udûn is going on with this book (I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses).

I've already put it on order. Besides, we don't have a local bookstore anymore. There used to be a nice, small one within walking distance, and I did all of my book ordering there. Now it's just Borders or Barnes & Noble. Those are fun to go to, when I have time (have to drive), but, basically, I'm lazy.

If you ordered from amazon, you can cancel for free any time before they ship.

Also, I notice that the .ca price is $15.75 Cdn, and the .com price is 16.50 USD :Q

(although the extra postage might cancel out that advantage)

I picked up "Anne of Avonlea" last night. I asked the lady who ran the bookshop if she had heard of the new one. She said, "Yes, I have. I don't think I'll read it. It seems to be too... gritty."

And it's really L. M.'s REAL words? In an actual finished story? This isn't like that Tolkien's son?

Yes, it's the exact manuscript that she dropped off to the publisher the same day she died.

Did you read the article? :poke:

But, vison, it's gritty. Are you sure you can handle reading it?

You'll have to get your gritup before reading it. The critics seem to agree that it's not a very tuganeigh read.

lol

Yes, I read the article, but a while back. I never really trust that stuff. Like, news, and whatnot . . .

There are more articles on the net, including the L. M. Montgomery Research Foundation.

The only thing that puzzles me is how little publicity this has gotten. I would have thought this would be huge news in the literary world. And, wouldn't it be in a publisher's best interest to shamelessly hype this as much as possible?

Yes, I have been thinking the same thing, which is why I'm sort of leery of it.

Well, me, too, but I still ordered it. I am just wondering why it isn't released yet in the U.S.

Well, apart from the puzzling lack of publicity, I haven't found a single thing to suggest it's not genuine, and a whole lot of material that suggests that it is.

Perhaps the reaction of the bookseller I spoke to yesterday illustrates why the publisher isn't going overboard with publicity?

Arrgh! Amazon just emailed me to tell me that they're canceling my order:

Due to a lack of availability from our suppliers, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order:

:( Can I order from Amazon Canada?

Yes, you can. I often order from amazon U.S. and UK. Just go to amazon.ca and set up an account!

Or if you prefer, I can order it and send it to you when it comes.

Hmmm, well, I tried that. The book is $15-something Canadian dollars. With shipping and conversion to USD, it's $42+. :Q

If you're not comfortable arranging something with me, I can try ordering it through a secondary seller here in the U.S. One had it for $25, plus s&h. You know, let me try ordering it through a bookstore first. I'll keep you posted! (And thank you for the offer! I may have to take you up on it. Of course, I'd reimburse you for all costs.)

Well, the book does exist. I saw two copies of it in a bookshop today.
