No worries! I'll leave it there in case anyone else is looking. There's two different file formats cause I had to convert the originals to work in iTunes. Use whichever works for you. Also, its ripped from radio so there's a little bit of filler on most files.

I'd like to download it, too. I tried listening on the BBC player, but that app simply doesn't work.
Thanks, Al!

I've listened to the first two episodes so far. It's a lot better than the TV adaptations that I've seen. Maybe because a radio play gives your imagination more freedom to fill in the gaps? Or maybe it's just better-adapted? Anyway, it's really good.

Speaking of TV adaptations, whatever happened about that Cohen pilot somebody linked to a while back?

I have Neverwhere as well if anyone's interested in more Gaiman, and a bunch of Pratchett, both Radio plays and readings.

That sounds like an awesome cast. I haven't actually read Neverwhere yet, but with a cast like that I'm okay with going straight for the radio play!

I see the first of the two planned posthumous PTerry novels was published a day or so ago - in the UK & Commonwealth, at least...

How long do the rest of you guys have to wait?

Yes, September 1 in the US. And I actually like the US cover better this time.

Easton Press in the US (and maybe Canada) has a leather signed edition of Gaiman's Neverwhere. I missed out on Stardust which is sad because it's a couple hundred dollars on the aftermarket now. Not having Stardust has put me off spending extra to pick up Neverwhere in leather binding.

Tolkien's the Fall of Aurthur is the only one I've actually pulled the trigger on spending the money to buy from Easton Press. I have a half dozen of so other leather books but they've all been picked up for $30ish each off Ebay. As nice as they are they are a bit expensive.

Anyone else got The Shepherd's Crown yet? I've just started it, and there's a lot to talk about, but I want to avoid spoilers.

Oh, and on the back cover, after a brief description, it had the words "The Final Discworld Novel". Hit me like a ton of bricks.

Yeah, read it a few weeks ago. It's very clearly a last novel. He knew it was.

What did you think?

I was very angry at a Guardian reviewer because (s)he gave away a major spoiler in the review (albeit one that happens early in the book). They should lose their job.

Well...on its own merit it's OK but it doesn't compare to Pratchett's best. Being what it is, it's devastating.

I think I may read this one, though I'll probably wait until it comes out in paperback. Don't worry about spoilers on my account, though.

I'm not expecting a well-written book, given that it sounds unpolished and incomplete (and I could barely make it through Snuff). But it sounds like Pratchett was saying farewell to his characters in this book, and I am curious about that.

Actually, you can thank the Guardian review and its spoiler for my interest. :) I had completely lost interest in any new Discworld books until I read it.

I'm only about one-third of the way through, and much of the prose sounds very un-Pratchettesque, leaving me to believe that he left some bits completely written out, and others in note form for someone else to complete.

From what I've heard, he ran out of time. (and I assume, may also have been incapable of the quality of work he used to do.) There's supposedly an afterword, where his assistant (?) describes how Pratchett worked - to complete the story, then go back and polish and flesh things out. That's how I work myself. The first drafts have most of the information, but never read particularly well. This book sounds like it was somewhere between first draft and done, more complete in some places than others.

Still, that's a good deal better than the posthumous books from some authors, like Douglas Adams (can't remember the title, but it was only a partial story).
