I already had tickets for his concert in Geneva in octobre :( and now the living legend of the Buena Vista Social Club has decided to leave us...

Anybody else likes Cuban music like me?

I was saddened to read of Mr. Ferrer's passing.

I had never heard any Cuban music that I know of until I caught the Buena Vista Social Club documentary on PBS a few years ago. I was immediately hooked. I ran out and bought the CD immediately. "Murmullo" is my favorite!

Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to see Ibrahim Ferrer or any of the other band members live in concert. I'm just glad Ry Cooder had enough forethought to get these gentlemen and their wonderful talent on film and CD before it was too late.

I didn't know Ibrahim Ferrer had died. :( What sad news. I loved Buena Vista Social Club, it was my intoduction to Cuban son. I haven't delved much deeper than that (only a couple of compilation albums), but it's made me appreciate boleros in a way I hadn't in all my years in Spain.
