It’s time to elect the first Mayor of b77. :D

The Mayor is responsible for recordkeeping—keeping track of people who volunteer as jurors or train to be Rangers, lining up new Rangers to replace outgoing ones as needed, and sending welcome letters to new members on a regular basis. The Mayor also informs people when they become eligible to volunteer for these positions.

The vote will run from the start of Saturday, 3 September (midnight GMT on Friday) to midnight GMT on Monday, 12 September.

There is no quorum for this election. :)

VOTE FOR A SINGLE OPTION by PM to the Temporary Acting Mayor (screen name: Mayor). You need only give the letter of the ballot option you wish to vote for.

After a ten-day transition period during which Prim plans to play Frogger and let Eru run everything, the winner of the election will be inaugurated on September the 22nd. If you need to be informed of the significance of this date, you probably don’t want to know. It is widely hoped that there will be margaritas made by the Mayor herself.

Thank you.

Primula_Baggins, Honorary, Temporary, and Acting (though not a lot) Mayor of Board77
Serving you since last week

*********OFFICIAL BALLOT**************

Who should be the first elected Mayor of b77?

A. Erunáme, because she is a dedicated b77 member who has contributed greatly to the development of this forum and will be a careful and responsible Mayor.

B. Erunáme, because she has selflessly stepped forward and volunteered to run for the job.

C. Erunáme, because she looks an awful lot like Arwen.

D. Erunáme, because I’m afraid of what Iavas will do to me if I don’t vote for her.

E. Erunáme, because Iavas will look so cute pouring tea and cutting ribbons at all the boardwide events.

Am I the first to vote? Or merely the first to add a post?

Either way, I will wear my I Voted sticker with pride.

Probably the easiest election in the history of this board... :D

Well, it was about time, wasn't it? :D

Though I've done my best to present options people can be torn between.

This is when I really regret that the Mayor doesn't have the black-helicopter panel.

I want an alternative!

Why can't there be an option F: Eruname, because all the others are just too glamorous to be taken seriously?

So why didn't you step forward and join the ballot committee, then, hmm? :x Some people have no sense of responsibility.

Or perhaps you suspected that I was going to write it myself anyway. Because what's the point of untrammelled power if you don't use it to control people's destinies? Huh? Answer me that!

Something went wrong! I wanted to vote "Erunáme" but I accidentally hit the "Pat Buchanan" option!

Before I vote, can somebody post a picture of Iavas pouring tea and cutting ribbons?

Can I have my ballot back? I think I left some dangling chads.

The price for special privileges is ice cream, fisssh. Ice cream for me.

If I had the Photoshop skills I would certainly indulge your wish, Jude, although I think we should leave the actual selection of the flowered frock to the Mayor. I'm planning on leaving her a strongly worded memo urging a handkerchief hem and a little lace at the bosom.

If this election goes to the Supreme Court I will be totally bent out of shape. :rage:

About to vote before my computer dies.

I paid the Supreme Court off a long time ago. They said I have carte blanche. I always thought that was some kind of cracker.

Aren't you glad I'm running such an unimpeachably and unassailably clean election, Jn?

Shouldn’t there be a campaign or something? Speeches? Rallies? A series of debates following a mutually agreed upon format moderated by an impartial moderator or Jim Lehrer? How are we supposed to know how to vote?

At the very least I would like for the candidates to answer a few simple questions.

1. What is your position on trebuchets? Do you agree that the trebuchet should be officially recognized as the official seige engine of b77, and that Oct. 27 should be declared Official B77 Trebuchet Recognition Day, and that ice cream should be served?

2. Do you have any donuts?

3. Can I have some?

I shall cast my vote accordingly once these important questions have been cleared up.

I think we should have at least have a five-way debate.
