I still urged, twice I think, that the committee avoid asking to do this. I think it is asking for two controversies instead of one. But, yes, my personal opinion was that this would not be a harmful measure to take for a short time.

However, I'm no longer on the committee. :)

Well, there can't be anyone who's eligible prior to September 27 because June 27 is the earliest join date among new members. And I thought that the fact that votes take place in the first week of the month - meaning the first week of October for this one - was within the necessary time limit for other concerns to be satisfied.

The committee just has to finish the ballot and post it by Sept. 20 for the vote to be concluded by October 10.

I did suggest elsewhere that the committee consider a ballot option to keep the forum closed to new membership until existing members all reach 18 years of age. That might be too controversial and take us down an unwanted tangent, but for me at least it would solve the problem of what to do about the two current underage members. Because really my concern is having a public forum with adult-teen conversation about intimate issues - that is, a forum where any registered member from anywhere could get in after fulfilling minimum requirements and find adult-teen conversations of a sexual nature.

This is perhaps not the best place to ask this question, but all of a sudden I'm getting a banner ad between posts within a thread. Have the rules of the host changed?

Ditto that. I thought it was a server error but now I notice it occuring more often.

*EDIT* In fact, right above THIS post....

I've got Norton Security up and running, so I don't see these ads at all.

Now I come to think of it, I installed it last week and I haven't seen a punch the X, shoot the Y or squash the Z since - either here or anywhere since.

Trust me, it's worth it.

Well, now it seems to be gone. Apparently they had complaints.

Following Eru's link, it appears that in response to complaints they moved the banners to right after the last posting (but above the reply box). Apparently that is OK with the ad people.

I can't see the ads in Safari—just a blank space.

Just something I've noticed in the last few days: sometimes when you click on the last page number of a topic, you'll get a blank page that states "No posts exist for this topic".

I used to notice that on TORC, but not here until very recently.

I'm guessing it has to do with the php code miscalculating the amount of pages, probably when the last page has the maximum posts. Did phpbber recently upgrade to a new version of phpbb?

Or, have other people had this happen all along, and I just was lucky until a few days ago?

Jude, there's some kind of board optimization thing the Rangers can run that fixed this problem the last time it cropped up. As I remember it was very quick and didn't affect the users—just click on a button and it's done.

But can I remember how to get to it? No, I cannot.

Woah.
Looks like they have made some changes around here. New font and some dark borders around the reply box.

It might just be Holby's selected board style.

I am using subsilver. A little while ago there was a message on the board that said maintenance. I couldn't get on for a few minutes. When I did get back on, the font had changed and there was a black border around the reply box. And the little icons next to each thread won't load.
I am not hallucinating. Not about this anyway.

Can we move them to the historical interest forum?
