A friend of mine from another forum has asked:
Quote:
Does anyone know of a transcription (musical) of Carmina Burana (not the Orff one!). I'm particularly looking at Dr Dawson as I've heard him singing bits of at least one of the pieces.

In particular I'm looking for the tune of "Nomen a solemnibus" with a view to getting it going on the Symphonie which I will hopefully be finishing making this winter.
Apparently a Symphonie is a sort of early medieval hurdygurdy.

Anyway, I know there are some talented classical music loving types in here and wondered if anyone can help? :)

The University of Ottawa library has it. Your friend can probably obtain it through interlibrary loan.

The call number is:
M 1497 .C37 1979

Wow Jude thanks! And that's not the Orff one?

Can you tell I know nothing about what I'm asking about? :)

No, it's not the Orff.

The summary reads:
Quote:
Which means something like "complete edition of the Medieval melodies with the relevant texts.... etc.

The related subjects are:

1. Student songs, latin - scores
2. Songs, unaccompanied - scores

I'm pretty sure it's what you're looking for. :)

You're an absoluete darling, Jude.

I've passed all that on and hopefully he can take it from there. He's an academic so hopefully accessing stuff through the Uni library systm should be an easyish option.
