The proposed Irish Moot will be taking place around the weekend of March 23rd - 25th.

Accomodation
Accomodation will be a mix of holiday cottages and B&Bs.

Events

The following is almost certainly the plan:

Thursday:
Walk in Cratloe Woods or Shopping in Limerick City

Friday:
Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Ailwee Caves

The cliffs are about an hour from Bunratty, driving through the Burren. There's a car park and visitors center, plus a restaurant and cafe. From there its about half an hour to Ailwee caves. After that we can visit Monks of Ballyvaughan for a bite to eat. Anything from Soup to Full Meals available ranging from €5 to €20 so all prices catered for. Seafood a speciality.

Cost:
Cliffs of Moher:
Bus is Approx €15
Visitor Center at Cliffs is an extra €4 each if anyone is interested in that.
Ailwee Caves: €10 each, or €7.50 each if we get a group rate.
Total: Under €30 per head

Friday Night:
8:45pm Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet
Cost: €46.75 special rate (includes food drink and entertainment)

Saturday:
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

Lazy day on Saturday. The folk park and Castle are open all day. There's a tea house on the grounds serving Teas/Coffees, Hot Apple Pie and other stuff. There's also a Village pub. I'd recommend Pub Grub in Durty Nellies in the Evening. Retiring to Durty Nelly's or Macs pub for the remainder of the night.

Cost: Folk Park: €4.75 as part of the Banquet Deal.
Food in Durty Nellies between €8 and €15 average price (unless you order Lobster ;) )

Sunday:
An afternoon at Vinyamar

Since a lot of people are leaving Sunday, I was thinking we could have the afternoon at my house and I can drop people to the airport as needed.

Monday:
Mithril Miniatures and Killarney National Park

This is a 2 hour drive, into West Cork. Beautiful scenery, of course, and the Mithril Miniatures factory is in a little village. This would be planned leaving mid morning to arrive at lunchtime, grab some pub grub, do the Factory tour. Then a 40 minute drive to Killarney to see TORC Waterfall (How apt is that ;) ) and Killarney National Park.

Cost: About €20 for the bus, assuming everyone who's still there on Monday is interested. The Factory tour is free and entry to the National Park is free also. Muckross House has an entry fee of about €5 for those who are interested. They also have "Traditional Farms" which cost about the same. personally I'd give them a skip and just enjoy the grounds.

Why is it that leaving from Buffalo over Toronto is at least 100 dolars cheaper? :(

The question for us is primarily one of what to do with our son, who will be not quite 4 at the time. It would be silly NOT to make it a real holiday of at least a week or so, and that's a long time to leave him with family. OK, it's long for US.

OTOH, the challenges of a taking a toddler overseas are not insubstantial. We do have some friends in the Philadelphia area with whom we might be able to stay the night, to break up the flight somewhat. But planning a vacation with him in mind is going to require some thought and some research.

That, and everyone will tell us we spelled his name wrong. :D

I told my mother about an ireland moot and she was thrilled. Would it be alright if she came along if I am able to make it?

She'd be a probable like me.

Though I must admit my main reason is to see what Guinness tastes like in its natural habitat. ;)

Ohhh, were goin huntin. Is it caught in a snare or forced to ground with packs of baying hounds, horses and fierce hunters with spear and bow?

Would be good to see mamma Jae again.

Ummmm, seeing numbers, do we need to think about hiring cottages and stuff to store people overnight?
