I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

I should call my dad and see if he went out and bought it.

Unbeknownst to me, it seems like I inherited the geek gene from him. I didn't learn this until the month that TTT:EE came out and he asked me if I had bought it yet.

Of course, calling him would require knowing his number. Maybe Mom has it. :?

Anyways, I majorly want to buy these...alas that I am jobless and moneyless. :(

I envy all who can purchase these delightful, history-making DVDs.

Was reading a pretty crappy review over here:
http://dvd.ign.com/articles/732/732369p1.html

I'm not a fan so no comment from me.

My husband wants to get them, simply because he hates how they changed the first Star Wars movie when they put it on DVD and had Han Solo shooting AFTER the alien in the bar tried shoot him. In the original, Han shot first.
I suppose we'll have to get them, as our VHS versions will wear out someday.

*sigh*
I hate falling for such an obvious money grab, but .... well, he wants it!

I have trouble saying "no" to my fella.

It was amusing reading the negative reviews on Amazon (its over all rating was 2.5 stars out of 5 when I went on)

All these people complaining about how upset they were when they bought it and found out it was the Original versions :LMAO: Nevermind that everything that been put out by Lucasfilm has been very up front that the DVDs really would have the original theatrical cuts just like you would have seen in theaters in '77, '80, and '83...meaning the "good" stuff, like Han shoots first is there but also the "bad" such as the "force field" under Lukes speeder and that it wasnt digitally remastered or cleaned at all.

They all apparently want a version with just the stuff they think sucked removed.

There's a difference between a re-edited movie and a remastered movie. I would pay money for a remastered version of the original trilogy, but what George is offering I have had on VHS for 20 years. Its lame and its simply gouging the fans.

I won't be buying this release. I've learned enough of George's tactics to know that the proper release will eventually come.

I assumed this as well (and still bought them ;) ) and after watching the Ep4...er Star Wars that is, DVD and comparing it to my VHS, it was worth it. They may not have specifically remastered it but even so it does look better and sound better than my VHS copies. (which are only 10 years old)

If they were more sensibly priced I'd consider it, but I can't see myself spending €90 on material I already own.
