I quickly looked through the list of threads and didn't see a topic on it so here's one. If I've been a complete twat and missed the thread let me know and I'll just C&P this over to the other thread.

UPDATE: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=17981

Looks cool.

I wonder what will be the bigger blockbuster next year, Pirates 3 or Spiderman 3. It'll be quite a race!

I'm not certain I like the casting at all for Gwen Stacy in Spidey 3. I guess I should go find the spidey thread for that though. :D

Next year is going to be a good year for movies.

If the Pirates movies were excised of all material that is not Captain Jack Sparrow... they would be better than spiderman...

As it is, Spiderman 2 is a nearly perfect spiderman movie. Alfred Molina is more than perfect as Doc Oc, and the peter parker's characterization is near perfect. The only real complaint about that film is the blase reaction he has to being unmasked in public... which didn't fit the character at all.

A close second as far as comic book movies are concerned is X-2. In fact, X-2 is probably a better adaptation than Spidey-2, but I like spiderman better than the X-Men :)

Pirates 2 I did not like nearly as much as Pirates 1 (which I fastforward through half of sometimes).

Wait, what's the topic of this thread?

I'm looking forward to both these films... and Harry potter 5, if that's ever going to come out next year... not to mention the 7th book...

Oh, and the Ghost rider movie looks cool...

Can you tell I own a comic book store?

I'm still looking forward to it and hoping they don't crap out on it. I loved the first. The second was good, but I didn't find it to be anything spectacular. I liked number one best so far....but watched it so many times that I'm not going to be watching it many more times any time soon. :P Went to see it in theaters four times, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, hmm...should be interesting. In a moment pondering on plotline, I think I'm happy they brought Barbossa back...should be interesting to see how he plays now that he's not an undead pirate captain.

Spidy 3, I'm not really interested in. The first one was pretty good, but the second one really didn't do anything for me.

PotC should be entertaining. Anything with Johnny Depp is worth watching in my book.

Edit: Bad spelling

Am I the only person on the board who thinks Pirates 2 is better than Pirates 1?

Anyways.....I'm looking forward to both Spidy 3 and PoTC 3.

But I think I want Spidy 3 more.

Watched P2 on DVD last night and quite, quite enjoyed it. Not enough Captain Jack, but hey, any Captain Jack is good, right? Captain Jack Sparrow is sex afoot, no kidding. Hotttt.

I had been warned that there was too much SFX. I was relieved that it was bearable.

However, the story didn't make a lot of sense, even for a wild-over-the-top-madcap-adventure story. You really have to jump over some BIG plot holes.

I am looking forward to the 3rd one very much. More Captain Jack!!!!! Let's see Captain Jack in the sack with someone, guyz. :D Preferably a woman with whom one could identify :Q (but I realize there are those who would enjoy seeing Captain Jack get it on with some hot sailorboy).

As for Spiderman, meh. I don't get it. Never did. I liked Superman okay, but Superman was Superman. The angsty bits leave me cold. You're a superhero, Spiderman, wake up and smell the coffee. I have never watched a Spiderman movie all the way through, the tedium sweeps over me and lulls me to sleep. Same with Matrix and X-Men movies. I am the wrong generation, I guess.

I like PotC 2 as much as the first one. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it is highly entertaining.

I agree! I actually thot there was MORE stupid SFX in POTC 1 than in # 2.
