The best movie I've seen this year.
Not merely hilarious but also hugely touching and poigniant.
Perhaps the most mature comedy I've ever seen.
Go see it!

Yova, have you seen "The Snapper"?

Opens with the immortal line "You're wha?"

There's a film of that? I just read the book, but I didn't enjoy it half as much as "Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha". That is, if we're talking about the same story. Which I'm pretty sure we must be, from context. :Wooper:

Thats the one. All three of the Barrystown trilogy were filmed. Obviously "The Commitments" was the big one, but "The Snapper" and "the Van" were both filmed too. For those who don't know, its the same family in all three books/films, although Jimmy Rabitte was recast for the TV movies. Colm Meaney did all three though.

Snapper in America doesn't mean knocked up....though it does have to do with the same female area. In America men look for snappers, snappers are a good thing to find. :D At least that is what I am told.

I can be so ignorant sometimes! I've loved 'Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha' for years, but I hadn't even heard of 'The Snapper' until a few weeks ago, let alone the others. I may have to look into that.

Ara-anna, a "snapper" is a kid. A baby. So in the film, Sharon has just found out she's "havin' a snapper".
