I thought maybe it'd be easier to keep track of such things in one place. IMO, most of these are low priority and can be updated/changed when people with the skill to do so have time. They have done enough recently to move us here, so we don't want to overwhelm them with more tasks. But these are things that can be worked on a little at a time. Some of them, anyone should be able to do.

Add more templates/skins.

Add a quick reply mod. -- Done by Alatar!

Fix the instructions in applicable posts on how to add a new member, add a new ranger, remove an old ranger, etc.

Fix squished smilies -- Done by Lali & Jude

Have a template with fixed avatar width -- Sort of done by Jude?

Remove large offline/online button from avatar panel -- Done by Jude?

Yellow, "New Posts" color showing up in the forum index even after checking that page -- You will have to either read every new post in every thread in the forum or you can hit the "Mark Forums Read" on the front page before you leave.

Avatar not showing up -- You will need to re-upload your avatar. Or, now is a good time to find a new one if you want!

If others have more suggestions, add them here, and I'll update the list.

Thanks!

Lali

:grouphug:

No further suggestions from me, although I did see a post or two concerning font size in posts, as in being able to view them larger than what subsilver currently does? I know that is addressed in the templates/skins task, but I think it might be important to note the specifics for that boon to those that otherwise might have trouble reading the board.

But, thanks to all here who have been doing so much!! You guys/gals rock!! :)

Err, I do not know where to post this, so I will post it here. Why is "Google [Bot]" showing up as a registered user online?

All the searchbots were listed as "Guest" on the old board. Now, you can actually see which bots are indexing the board for search purposes. So if you look at the "Users browsing this board" bit at the bottom, the "and X guests" probably refers to real people that aren't logged in. On the old board, there was no way to tell if they were bots or people.

So, Jude, can you use your mod warning powers to block such stuff? :D

Oh, these aren't the same bots that gave us so much trouble before - the ones that would register under fake names and post spam, or links to their stupid web sites.

These ones are what index the site - we need them if we're ever going to run searches and stuff.

Hello, Google bot, and welcome to Board77! :cheers:

I'd still like the width-thing with the profil/avatar section to change to how it was on B77, so that the width is the same for all posts on one page. Of course, this might be impossible, and/or I may be the only one being bothered by it. ;)

Great job, everyone doing great jobs. :hug:

Alright, if you say so. I know I always turn off the google search features that it tries to impose on me when I use them as my homepage, as in what I would "like to read" or "do you want to view your local news" and such, I find it intrusive and a little bit scary.

Okay, I sort-of fixed the avatar width thing by editing the .css file. I set it to a width of 250px, but any avatars that are wider (like mine, for example :oops: ) will cause it to stick out for just that post.

We could impose maximum widths for avatars - I believe the Admin Panel has that option - but then I would have to go into photoshop to do some reducing, and you would have to squint more to be able to gaze on the beauty that is Sam and Anna. :love:

Sounds like a sensible option. Also, it might be worth reducing the pics in your sig, or at least putting them side by side. Now that the quote button is at the bottom of a post, they become a nuisance.

Would anyone miss the offline/online button?

I wouldn't...it seems very obtrusive and ugly.

I don't like it either. It's too distracting. I'll take a look at the admin panel to see if I can remove it somehow--if there are no objections, of course.

I just clicked on a link in a post, and the link opened in the same tab as the board, unlike on the old site. Would it be possible to change the system so that links would automatically open in a new window or tab?

Ok, I think I have that Link thing fixed.

For future reference of Rangers:
In styles/{STYLENAME}/template/bbcode.html find this:

   1. <!-- BEGIN url --><a href="{URL}" class="postlink">{DESCRIPTION}</a><!-- END url -->

and replace with this:

   1. <!-- BEGIN url --><a href="{URL}" class="postlink" target="_blank">{DESCRIPTION}</a><!-- END url -->
and
In includes/functions_content.php, find this:

   1. $html    = "$whitespace<!-- $tag --><a$class href=\"$url\">$text</a><!-- $tag -->$append";

and replace with this:

   1. $html    = "$whitespace<!-- $tag --><a$class href=\"$url\" target=\"_blank\">$text</a><!-- $tag -->$append";

I think its worth pointing out that any new templates added will not have Quick-Reply or Url handling, which means code chances for every template added.

I'm strongly recommending we either stick with the two we have, or find one that everyone's happy with and make that the default. (Like thats gonna happen... ;) )
