Something that's sorta bothering me but I wouldn't know if it could be fixed.

Whenever we come to the board, the forum buttons are yellow which tells us that there is a new post in that forum. On the old b77, once we left the board and came back it would no longer have the yellow button even if we chose not to read all the threads that had new posts. That isn't the case here. The button stays yellow unless you click on all the threads that have a new post. That's a bit annoying as who needs to check up on say, the rank thread, every time there is a new post? But like I said, I don't know if this can even be fixed and it's not really a huge deal.

Does it happen even if you log out and then log in again?

I think its cookie/login related. Normally what I do is hit the "Mark Forums Read" on the front page before I leave.

Dunno Jude. I keep myself logged in.

I was looking for a button like that Alatar! I didn't realise we had one. I see it now and that it's only visible on the forum index page. Thanks. That solves my problem.

So what did we settle on for styles? Were we going to install Rainy Day and adapt it with Erunáme's graphics? Or one of the two we already have?

Rainy Day isn't available for PHPBB3. :( So far I like the Avalon style I linked to earlier and may use that one to personalise for the board. But I haven't finished looking through all the styles yet (sorry but inlaws are coming over tomorrow to help lay some turf so we've been busy preparing for that...and cleaning up the place! :P Once this is over, I'll be able to sit down and browse some more.)

My pm capability does not seem to work. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do it yet, but when I type in the recipient and hit submit, it gives me an error message that there is no recipient.

I use this feature about once a year :) so it's not a big deal for me, but I thought I'd report it in case others have the same problem.

Hmmm, that's weird.

Can you try PMing me? You'll have to put in the full deal: LalaithUrwen

I am going to try to PM you.

Yeah, this has been getting to me as well, especially as you can't just click on the thread to get rid of the yellow icon - you actually have to click on the specific page that the new post is on. Not a huge deal, agreed, especially since the board is not that busy usually.

It works a bit differently than the old one - there's a textarea in the top left where you can type in the recipient, and then click "add" to add the recipient to the "To" field. You can't actually edit the "To" field directly, you have to use the buttons to add or subtract recipients.

It's a little more fussy, but the advantage is that you can send to multiple recipients at once.

Aha! That's the step I was missing. I was able to reply to both Lali and Alatar by pm because their names already appeared in the recipient box, but before I had been trying to type the name of the recipient into "Send to" box and then hit submit.

It was clear that I some step was missing but I couldn't figure out what it was. :)

Thanks to all three of you for solving that.

Are there any more outstanding issues here? Or can we unsticky this thread?

This is not a request for a change but a request for an explanation. In a couple other current threads people are talking about an "Ignore buttion," and I thought they were speaking euphemistically ... like, exercise self-control and ignore it. But the last couple posts referring to the admin panel made it sound like there really is a switch that lets you turn off some posts, or some posters? Is that so? If yes, where can I find this button!

Yes, indeed you can choose to ignore certain posters.

In your User Control Panel at the top right of your screen, you'll see Friends & Foes. Then you can choose Manage Friends or Manage Foes.

Cool. Thanks, Lali.

Sorry to hold up the de-stickying of this thread.

Oh, goodness, no need to apologize. There are lots of new features to this board, and we're all still discovering them.

I'd like to request a change.

It would be good if the rangers could make the decision for posters who cause problems when they post together to be required to put each other on ignore in their user control panel.

This was never an issue on the old board because we didn't have the option. Now that we do, it would be good to make it part of the rules.

If it's possible, it would be good if the rangers had the power to get into a UCP and do it for the poster if necessary.
