I see exactly where TED is coming from, however his leaving is premature. Seems to me, he's leaving before there actually is any problem of the sort that he is talking about.

All that said, he's leaving, if indirectly, because of Hal.

I don't think we'd have any problem whatsoever having a democratic and member moderated board if we had no flamers.

I hate goodbye posts as well. Always have, always will.

Well, we're trying to have a hearing anyway. :) We'll see how it goes.
Yeah, I saw that...I was just skipping the whole Jury step, basically. ;) I've always been very efficient. :LMAO:
Dude, if we could vote people off this island, this week would never even have happened!

What would I do if I could do whatever I pleased? Have a hearing for banning hal...he states his case in one post, Rangers state theirs, each party gets a one post rebbutal, voting is open for a set period of time, as many members who want to vote on whether there should be a ban or not. It's not what the Charter prescribes exactly, but it's close enough in spirit imo, and it gets the problem over with.
That would treat the symptom.

The one and only problem or symptom is ignorant selfish assholes.
Period.

:toast:

My apologies to the Rangers, they are doing their best.

But, until we can resolve the current situation, I will find it hard to be committed to this free for all policy that the board has. It works 99% pf the time, but all it takes is the one asshole to frak it up for everyone else. I for one can no longer tolerate it, I have better things to do in life than deal with juvenile posting habits that are only designed to inflame and divide people.

And, yes hal, if you are reading this, it is directed right at you. Do NOT you yourself contact me again under any guise or circumstances.

But we are democratically trying to solve the problem and tweak the rules to cope with real life (on the internet). This isn't a rushed-through Patriot Act by TPTB on the masses. We all are TPTB here and it's way overdue.

I don't understand TED at all here. He may not like or agree with what the majority are deciding, but that's the cost of being in a democracy. You don't just up sticks and bugger off. You stay, you fight for your view, and then abide by the decision whilst not agreeing with it, hoping to be able to change the decision at a later time. THAT is a true democrat (small d).

Mike, think again please. You have a smart noggin, and this is the one and only time you didn't use it (other than deciding to wear a pink boa).

Impenitent is exactly right: halplm is the most powerful person on this messageboard.

Mike's boa, as I recall it, was actually a disgusting combo of purple and green. It was the underwear that was pink. :D

I take it back. Mike, I apologise for having insulted you - but it was only a slight slight.
