I've been seriously thinking about getting a gluten free cookbook, not because I can't have gluten, but just to discover new tastes and see what I think of them. Plus, there's the benefit of being able to cook for people who can't have gluten, if they ever come to visit

It's american measurements though - you'd have to get her American measuring cups and whatnot as well.

Is an American 'Cup' different to a British one, or is it simply not regarded as very British to use cups instead of ounces?

I use cups all the time. At least, I do when I'm not using ounces.

It is slightly different, but it shouldn't matter so long as you're consistently using all British measures or all American measures.

What's a cup?

There are 16 tablespoons to a cup

or

240 ml is equal to one cup

or

2 cups is equal to 1 pint
