:D That was almost a Mr. Frodo line... I had some LOTR flashbacks...

Soooooo Boomer is a Bi***! My heart broke to see the Agathons in their misery post Hera-abduction and Boomer's stunt.... ugh. So sad. The last episode didnt really add so much... it had some great moments, but I'm really starting to get antsy that there isn't enough time to have episodes with little action/information revealed....
Baltar and Caprica 6 was hearbreaking too. I was looking forward to some sort of chat between the two. I really liked them in the initial seasons. Caprica is right though. Baltar hasn't really changed, and the writers have kinda degenerated his character with all the silly side plotlines as well methinks :P

Can't wait can't wait for next week !

FYI tid-bit:

http://blog.peta.org.uk/2009/its-bare-s ... mie-bamber

Jamie Bamber baring his skin to save the bears' skins. :D :P
He's not normally my type (though I dig the recent politician longer haired look; have to admit he was pretty nice in the last ep) but more  to him for baring it for the bears!

I've never watched this show or posted in this thread but things like this tend to grab my attention.

An angel, apparently.

The whole show skewed towards tech vs religion.

Did you watch the finale without having watched all the rest before it? :suspicious:

I've missed a lot, seemingly.

Oh, and teh bearskin guy, whilst cute as a bug's ear? He got it all wrong, and so did PETA, but then, they always do.

Considering when I left their place on March 10th, I know they hadn't watched any of BSG, I'm thinking at least Steve might have!

And it's not all about tech vs religion. Really that's not right at all. I'd say it's about breaking a cycle of violence. Yes, some higher power is out there in BSG world but religion doesn't play into it. According to Ron Moore, Starbuck wasn't necessarily an angel or demon or whatever. They purposefully didn't pin down what she was. She was there and lived a mortal life then died on original Earth and was then Ressurrected in order to lead the people to their end.

Two interesting interviews:

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Battlestar- ... 04256.aspx" target="_blank

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/scien ... t-answers/" target="_blank

.
.

All in all, I'm ambivalent about this ending. It all seemed to wrap up too quickly and after they got to our Earth, it felt like RotK with multiple endings. I really don't like that Starbuck just vanished.

I don't know...really, I'm not sure any ending would do the show justice.

"Higher power" and "resurrection" sorta bring religion to mind, ya know. Just sayin'. :)

Yes, but no. There was religion on the show but it was polytheist and on the way out. There was talk of a one, true God but there was nothing organized about it that made it seem religious really.

It's difficult to explain, but I most definitely did not get a "religion is better, you should believe" message from the show at all.

Starbuck was Gandalf. Starbuck the White, if you will! Sent back until her task was complete...

LOL! At least Gandalf was nice enough to say goodbye and sail off instead of suddendly disappearing mid conversation!

I thought Starbuck was Frodo.

My take was not so much religion vs tech, but more along the Tolkien lines, Tech vs. Non-Tech.

Didn't Ron Moore say his greatest influence was Tolkien, in the last frakin special thing?

tech vs non-tech is a much better way of putting it Ara.

.
.

I was reading Bear McCreary's blog and read something that really blew me away:
Quote:
I can’t begin to express the pressure I was under (from myself) to make this (Attack on the Cylon colonly) the biggest and most important action music I’ve ever written for the series. Cues such as Season Three’s “Storming New Caprica” and “The Signal” from Revelations pushed me as a composer, but this was the ultimate test. And I knew I’d need an orchestra to pull it off.

I’ve always talked about how I write for orchestra on “Galactica,” but never fully addressed why I have this opportunity on a cable TV series. To thank are the producers and executives working behind the scenes to provide the budget to cover the incredible costs of assembling a live orchestra.

For many weeks the orchestral fate of Daybreak was unknown. Thanks to the quick thinking of Todd Sharp at the studio, a small amount of music budget had been set aside early on to cover orchestral costs for the finale. However, when I saw how big this episode was, it became clear it simply wasn’t near enough.

In late January, the producers and I began to track down more money to pay for the orchestra. And it was proving difficult. The episode and the series as a whole were incredibly over-budget and I was unfortunately asking too late. Every other department had already made their requests, and music was going to suffer because it was the last in the chain.

The studio was honest about the situation and was able to provide what they could. However, it only covered the orchestral cues in the last forty minutes, and left no room for important sequences such as the colony battle, Laura’s fountain baptism and many others.

In an unprecedented move, the producers and I each pitched in personally to make this happen. We all pooled our resources together because we knew how important the full orchestra would be to Daybreak. The orchestra you’re hearing in this episode would not be there without the combined contributions and efforts of Ron Moore, David Eick, Jane Espenson, Michael Taylor, Bradley Thompson, David Weddle, Todd Sharp, Paul M. Leonard, myself and several others.
Wow. That's dedication for you. It really shows how special this show has been.

I haven't seen a single episode, but I plan to. Damn Yahoo Mail News for giving spoilers for non-US citizens. The finale only aired in the last couple of days in the UK.

Spoilers? Moi? Nah!!

The UK only aired it 4 days after the US did. Same for Lost. They got smart and didn't make people wait weeks or months.
