Oh, that is interesting to know. Thanks CG. Ugh, I can't stand Jonah Goldberg. But one different point that the article doesn't mention... no states were discussing a resolution to override the Constitution. Liberals may have been whining along with some Democrats, but not states. Vastly different.
That was merely the first article that came up. There was discussion of outright nullification with regards to Gay Marriage, Medical Marijuana, and Environmental standards. It's interesting to read (if you can stand it long enough) because you see Goldberg was - at that time - against it and thinking federalism is absurd.

But we're supposed to forget that now.

That is hardly anything that even begins to approach the level of Republican governors and other Republican elected officials who are engaged in the current silly talk. If that 'evidence' is the best those on the Right can come up with, case dismissed and closed.
If you think that the one article is the whole and sum of the available evidence, Google is your friend. If you want to think that the one article is the whole and sum of the available evidence, Google is your enemy. It was simply the first result when the Google search was performed.

CG - others, including myself, are not going to carry your water for you. If you want to make a point, then you Google, you do the research, you find the information, you analyze, and you present it.

The fact is that the article you did present was woefully thin and failed to support your assertion. The opinion of one Senate staffer is hardly equal to that of Republican elected public officials at the level of state Governors.

But thank you for playing "Grasping At Straws".

The other, of course, involves orcs. - John Rogers

State Lawmakers Considering Move to Opt Out of Federal Health Care
Quote:
Lawmakers in six states are considering legislation to "protect" citizens from a federal health care plan by creating statewide initiatives to vote on whether to opt out of the national program -- even before Congress has created the program

Congress has yet to come up with a clear prescription for the nation's health care system. But some state legislators are already urging voters not to take the medicine.

Under Arizona's Health Care Freedom Act, which was passed by the state legislature this week, a voting initiative will be placed on the 2010 ballot that, if passed, will allow the state to opt out of any federal health care plan. Five other states -- Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota and Wyoming -- are considering similar initiatives for their 2010 ballots.

"Our health care freedoms are very much at risk by health care reforms proposed in Washington, D.C.," said Arizona state Rep. Nancy Barto, the Republican legislator who sponsored the measure. "We needed to act as a state to protect our citizens and ensure that they will always be able to buy their own health care and not be forced into a plan they don't want."
