Here's the press release for the latest version of phpbb

The latest version is 3.0.5. We're currently running 3.0.2.

The changes will probably not be as obvious as when we upgraded from version 2 to version 3.

Anyway, have a look at the press release and report of bug fixes and let me know what you think!

I started to read it but then got overwhelmed/bored. Nothing that I read seems like a big change, unless I missed something?

I'm alright with keeping things as they are so we don't have any technical issues to deal with, but either way works for me. :)

I say yes.
They have obviously fixed known bugs and I can't imagine it will cause any issues we don't already have.
Besides most of us won't even know there was an upgrade.

"yes" is in the majority, but seven votes is hardly representative of the board. I'd like a clearer mandate before I do anything :poke:

I really don't feel I have the expertise to cast a vote. I really don't know what would be the best thing to do. I'd feel better if Alatar and Brian would weigh in, but I know Alatar is on holiday. And thanks to Holby for weighing in as an expert. And who are our other computer experts?

If there aren't any disadvantages, then I might say go ahead and upgrade.

Oh goodness I am no expert by any stretch. It just seems logical if there are no downsides to speak of.

I can't think of any reasons not to switch. Are there any downsides to the upgrade?

So long as it doesn't cause any confusion or tech difficulty, why not? I don't know anything about these things though...

Does this upgrade give B77 the ability to merge threads?

We already can.

I voted yes. Fewer bugs are better.

The "possible downside" that I can think of is that I may totally screw up the upgrade and bring this board crashing down upon our heads

It's not likely, but it is a faint possibility...

I'll abstain. The upgrade doesn't seem absolutely necessary, but I'm not opposed to going through with it.

It looks like the majority want the upgrade. I'll do some research, and give you fair warning before I do anything!

I'll probably do a backup & upgrade tomorrow morning. If the board is temporarily unavailable during that time, you can check for updates in that TOB thread I referred you all to during our last update. Which you all bookmarked, right?

Right? :poke:
