Quite often, I get the red cross of doom for a user's avatar. It's now just happened to me.

WTF?

Is this a php problem or a source problem?

Do you get it now? I can see the image - the animated gif of a moving eyeball.

I'm getting that too, using Firefox. I tried IE and got the red X for a broken image.

When using IE I get the red box. Both you and Lidless have the red box in place of an avatar. In Firefox everything is fine.

edit: looks like everyone has a red box now. I'll start up FF and see what it looks like.

In Safari I get the blue question mark.

Hey, you're right! I've only been using firefox, so I never knew there was a problem. I'll look into this...

I use Firefox and I have a Mac. For both Lidless and River's avatar, all I see is something that says "user avatar." No box, no picture, no nothing.

Even with Firefox, all the avatars are gone. It says "user avatar". It used to say that for a few users but now it appears to have affected everyone.

Okay, this obviously has something to do with my unsuccessful upgrade attempts from earlier today. *sigh*

Jewel, your avatar hadn't shown up for me in Firefox for months. Was it showing up for you?

You know - I have no idea. I never think to look at my own avatar. But now it just says "user avatar" - just like everyone else's.

We're all being CLONED. It's a nefarious PLOT, I tell you!

I tried deleting and reinstalling my avatar, but that didn't work.

Same here. Cleaning my cache wasn't any help either.

For a while I thought that "user avatar" was a placeholder for someone who didn't have one, but now it's definitely showing up for almost everyone.

I haven't had this problem at HoF.

I'm on my home computer now and some of them are back - I can see Holby's, Elsha's Eru's and Lidless's, but mine is missing and so is Jewel's and Jude's. Very strange.

I can only see mine and Freddy's, which I suspect has to do with my browser cache. I'm using Firefox, btw, if that helps with figuring out the problem. It has been fine till now, afaik.

I can see yours too, Lali (Firefox on Macintosh), but no other so far, including my own.

Sorry tinwë, but you're only seeing them again because they're still in the cache of your home computer. If you want to keep seeing those avatars, don't clean out your cache until the problem's fixed! ;)
