Greetings to you all! I have returned to a place with internet access and caught up reading Snake's Checkmate.

I hardly know what to say, except that your writing is as excellent as I remembered. They're getting so close to rescuing Éowyn! But I don't know whether the fleet can help yet - the undercover work needs to extract from the castle all who need rescuing first, and then the bombardment can begin. (And by "all who need rescuing", I include Inzilbêth and Dala, and probably Miliani and Adûnakhôr. Maybe more.)

Anyway, it's good to be back, and keep up the good work!

Thanks Raksha. The Gladden-Fields series is still not complete, and I hope to finish some more paintings before the end of the year. But first I have to see to a couple of commissions.

In fact, those are keeping me from continuing with the story, too. Tomorrow autumn break begins at school, which should give me some more time -- now that finally I have an idea how to get Faramir out of the castle. My muses haven't been very cooperative in that department lately, being more concerned with Beowulf and Tom Bombadil, but now they seem to be recovering.

Hoping for more posts soon; but glad that Faramir is safely out of the castle. More action :horse: would be great; has the fleet of Gondor turned up? Eowyn isn't getting any less pregnant!

Greetings Estel, great to see you're back.

As for new posts, I've almost finished one, but need to check with LoR first to find out how much time she's going to cover in her next post.

Lady of Rohan, we haven't heard from you for a while. Are the muses being uncooperative? Please post soon!

By the way, could anyone help me with a short fic? I've just about finished it, but I'm stuck for an ending that isn't an anti-climax.

Hi Estel (and Raksha, who sent me an email because she can't log in to the Board for some reason), good to hear from you. I also hope the story is going to continue, but I, too, haven't heard from LoR in a while (she didn't reply to my email). So I don't know what's up at her end, and if she's interested in continuing with the story at all.

I am, definitely, and for me it's not the muses being uncoorperative, but rather the acute lack of time. Between work, gaining extra qualifications for work, commissions and family issues I've had virtually no time for writing. I haven't even drawn Faramir in a long while, and that says something :bawl: . I managed to get a few lines written now and again, but the going is slow, despite ideas being there and everything. I now but my hopes into May when at least at the commission-end there should be some light in sight. My next post is almost done (only need some revision, in fact), and I know what's going to happen next in Faramir's part of the story (and partly about Éowyn, too, since we sketched some events beforehand). So I think I'll just go ahead, and wait and see what LoR comes up with. I really hope she'll return, to end the story "properly".

Maybe Raksha could help you with your fic, Estel, as she's an award-winning fanfic-writer (congrats, Raksha, for your success at MEFA  ). But I'll have a look at it, too, if you want me to.

But you're so busy! Well, it's not very long, so if you really have the time, please PM me your email. Or I can PM the whole thing to you, if that's easier.

MEFA? What's that? And yes, I've read some of Raksha's work, and it's good!!

I hope LoR comes back too.

You have family issues? And I understand, all those things are much more important than this.

I can finally log into the board again!

But there's no new post? :( How will I live, not knowing what has happened to Faramir and Eowyn and Inzilbeth and everyone?

Maybe AJ has stepped on something rusty in his bare feet and gotten tetanus and DIED MISERABLY in the meantime! Or at has contracted an itching disease. Or is at least has a bad hangover.

Hopefully your family issues will be satisfactorily resolved. Looking forward to eventually seeing the story continue and end; not to mention more Faramir pictures!

Hi Raksha! The way you'll live is by thinking of lots of ways it might continue, and suggesting them here. :) Then we'll see how good your guesses are, and maybe our lovely authors will even work some of the suggestions into the story (though I can't speak for them).

Khorazir, thank you so much for your reply. There's a lot of advice there; I'll start following it and then email you a proper reply. Thank you!

Hi Raksha, good to see you back on the boards. Did they offer any explanation why you couldn't log in for such a long time?

I love your suggestions for how we should proceed with AJ, and I'm all in favour of doing something nasty to him. For the time being, however, I'm more concerned with his enemies. I have my next posts outlined, and now only need time to actually write them down. Still no word or sign from LoR, though.

Glad to have been of help, Estel. I'm curious how your story is going to develop.

Ooh, new post!

They seem to be at a stalemate! And time's running out. But here comes action man Eomer - I want to know what his news is and what he wants to do.

My story is developing - sort of. I made some mistakes of timing and have to re-write them. I'll send you an updated version soon!

I haven't posted because I haven't written anything because I got eaten by hockey season. But it was worth it. Ohhhhh man was it worth it. Thousands of photos taken. Two of my hockey art pieces on the front of the sports page, and once on the main front page, in one of the city newspapers. Made friends with a couple players' families, had players know me by name, got to go out on the ice after the guys won the league championship in May. Had total strangers coming up to me at games and tell me they'd seen my pictures on Flickr. Had a player drive me to my car one night after a game. Saw some rookies' eyes light up like Christmas when I gave them mini albums at the end of season party. LOL. Now the season's over and I'm morose. :(

But when there wasn't hockey there was other drama, such as being mostly unemployed and slowly draining the savings account to where I'm starting to panic. It's to the point where not even Middle-Earth provides a distraction.

I already know how the story ends. ;) I'm just not entirely sure how to get there. Need to go back and read through posts and figure out what to do next.

But for today, "next" is going to lunch with a pro hockey player's mom.

Hi Lady Ro! Good to see you back! Wow, that must have been fun, except for the being out of work bit.

I second that :). Good to have you back.

Sounds like an awesome time with the hockey folks. Is there no chance to go pro with the photos? Surely the Komets need a real fan to design their official stuff, merchandise, calendars and the like, and some of the pics are really stunning. Then again, knowing how difficult it is to survive by freelance work alone, I hope you'll find a well-paid job soon that leaves you enough time for art. Ever thought about going into teaching? ;)

In other news, I'm an aunt. My brother's little son arrived Sunday morning.

And only four weeks to go until the summer holidays, which I really need because until then things are going to be extremely busy at school, and I will be tested on one of my lessons. (Hm, ok, so much for teaching ...)

Oh, and speaking of sports, the cycling season is in full run (with Tour de Suisse and of couse Tour de France), although I cannot hope to get as close to my favourite team as you, LoR, but only watch them on TV. Must have been totally awesome to actually speak with the lads.

Khorazir, how's your favourite cyclist doing? Is he in the Tour de France? I heard a vague rumour that an Australian was ahead so far in the Tour de France, but that's all I know.

By the way, my story hasn't gone anywhere since my last post. I'm afraid I'm like that - I write a spate, then nothing for ages.

Hi Estel, my favourite (Fabian Cancellara) has been doing excellently. He spent most of the first week in the yellow jersey after an impressive prologue and an even more impressive ride over the dreaded cobblestones of Flanders. But he's no climber, so he lost yellow in the mountains.

Unfortunately, Frank Schleck, one of his teammates, crashed on the pavé and broke his collarbone (thrice), so he's now out of the race. But yesterday Frank's brother Andy, also riding for "my" team Saxo Bank won the first real mountain stage in the Alpes. Today is rest-day, tomorrow there's going to be another tough day in the mountains.

As for the Australian you mentioned, that's Cadel Evans. He's in yellow now, 20 seconds ahead of Andy Schleck who was overall second last year, behind Alberto Contador. Hope Andy is going to win the Tour this year.

As for writing posts, well, my next one hasn't progressed too far, either ...

Close match! I hope Andy wins - or better yet, Fabian; he sure seems to be good! :) And you have a good excuse for not writing! ;) I don't really care about Australia; I don't feel like it's my country. It's just kind of interesting (and sometimes the way I hear about things). Better luck to Frank next time.

I should just try to finish one more scene, and then ask you to read my story again, but I tend to work only as inspiration comes. I know I can write it if I try. I'll set myself a time to try, and see if that helps. :)

It would be cool indeed if Fabian won the tour, but he's no rider for the mountains (too heavy). He's rather for the Spring Classics like Paris-Roubaix or time trials, which he specialised in. But I also hope Andy is going to win the Tour this year, and not Alberto Contadope ... er Contador again ;)

Moreover it's been so hot here the past month that spending time indoors doesn't seem like a good idea, since I haven't got air-condition in my room. Actually, it's best to be out on the bike right now despite the strain of the exercise, because then you sweat and have some wind to cool you, and can ride in the shade. And it's good for inspiration, I find.

Interesting. I've heard before that walking is supposed to be good for inspiration. I like that you're inspired by cycling, though: I strongly approve of cycling. I go everywhere on Rochluin, my dear steel horse. Even by train sometimes - the suburban trains here let bikes travel free, woo!

Hi again! And I see there's a new post!

Oh, the dear children with their gifts! Beautiful moment there.
Éomer the action man is taking a very sensible position. No hot-headed storming the castle - yet! ;)
Great work as always - and come-on-come-on-come-on with the new post! :D :blackeye:

I also think I finally have "The Healer's Errand" ready for an external opinion. May I please send it to you again?
