About a decade ago I took up origami for a little while. Since then two T-Rexes have stood on my file cabinet at work, assuming various poses of killing each other throughout the years.
This year my coworkers gave me a vase for Christmas, and I put it next to the dinos because the landscape scene in the vase looked like it ought to have dinosaurs roaming in it. However, soon the empty vase started to bother me, and I looked up some origami patterns and made some flowers to go in the vase.

I was ridiculously pleased with the flowers, and posted a pic to Facebook, where to my surprise, the dinos got all the attention. My mom asked for an "inevitable betrayal" scene from Firefly, so I found a stegosaurus pattern, managed to figure out the instructions and was able to post this for her:
with, of course, the "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" caption.

I'm still new enough to this that I have to look up how to make all the common bases- but I'm enjoying this for now. This may be the best way of passing the time in a slow office job that I've found yet. Besides roaming the internet, I mean....
