Oh, there's a Christmas one I can never remember the name of. I think it's called 'It Happened on 5th Avenue' or something similar...

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

The movies on my list were watched by me multiple times well before I was 15 so they are kid tested Mother and Grandmother approved :D

Aren't most things better with Baz? Movies? Chanel commercials? So I have to agree wholeheartedly with Alatar and Baz Lurhman's version of Romeo and Juliet. I don't even care for Shakespere but there is something about that movie and the soundtrack, I'm a sucker for soundtracks, that gets me.

Lali I'm so excited for you and your girls :Wooper:

If you want your daughters to have strong memories of watching movies with you, not necessarily good memories, mind you, do what I did and watch thrillers like Hitchcock's The Birds. =:)

I have to say I don't really care for the Baz version of Romeo and Juliet, but maybe I'm just a curmudgeon. :P I loved Moulin Rouge, though, absolutely loved it.

I finally had time to add a bunch of these to my queue. :) We should be set for movies this summer! Yay!

Sarah has been rolling through the Brady Bunch DVDs. It's been funny to watch. (Oh my word. Were they trying to be purposely ugly in the 70s or what? It brings back a lot of childhood memories! :D) However, I'm getting a little tired of the Brady Bunch, so these movies interspersed throughout will be a nice change of pace.

I just watched "Castle in the Sky" an animated movie. I was expecting it to be based on the Diana Wynne Jones novel "Castle in the Air", since the same animator had done her "Howl's Moving Castle", and "Castle in the Air" is the sequel to that book. Reasonable assumption, right?

Well, it turns out it's a completely different story. I almost didn't bother to watch it, but in the end I did. It was actually quite good - your girls might like it. It's slightly over two hours in length.

I'm working through the "old" Tim Burton Batman movies with the kids. They're actually much more kid friendly than the more recent ones.

We ended up watching "The Incredible Shrinking Man" this afternoon. (It was on TV.) It wasn't too bad, really. None of us liked the ending, though.

I'll have to check it out, Jude.

Alatar, I like the older Batman movies pretty well. I don't know what the girls would think of them.

I was trying to get them to watch a Vincent Price film, "The Last Man on Earth," which was a movie I started watching late at night awhile ago and couldn't finish due to the time. It was good, and I want to know how it ends. Zombies! Zombies are always cool! But they wanted to watch "America's Got Talent" instead. (It is entertaining, too, but zombies are better.)

Am I missing the latest joke? What's the buzz about zombies?

Zombies are pretty cool right now, yes.

I hear that mermaids will soon overtake zombies and vampires, though. Remember, you heard it from me first.

(The "Twilight" books author is writing a new one about mermaids, and the newest Pirates of the Caribbean has mermaids in it.)

Are zombies cool because of that weird series about Jane Austen books interspersed with them?

I think zombies were gaining in popularity before the Jane Austen/Zombie books, but I'm not sure. I'm really not sure why they started getting so popular again.

I know I'm late to this party, but I have to recommend the old Humphrey Bogart movies, Casablanca, to Have and Have Not, and The Big Sleep. I love watching them!

I second Casablanca. Has "An Affair to Remember" been mentioned yet?
Or "Born Free" (loved that one as a teenager, though I haven't seen it in years)?

I don't know how old something has to be to be considered a "classic" but I highly recommend School Ties. As I recall, it doesn't have anything more violent than rowdy teenagers getting into fistfights. It's serious (i.e. not a comedy) and raises a lot of points that will be fodder for discussion afterwards.

Oh, and it has a great last line.
